Christian overcomers Community Group
This is a Christian Group for people that are seeking healing or overcoming challenges through Biblical advice. Our key verse is 3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

My Notes from the sermon “Know Your Authority” Greg Mohr
Luke 9:1-2 “The He called His twelve disciples together and gave them authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. (2) He sent them to preach the Kingdom and to heal the sick.”
My sided note added here: This verse talks about giving authority to the twelve disciples, but Mark 16:15-18 tells us that this same authority was passed on to ALL believers.
Mark 16:15-18 “And he said to them, ‘Go ye into ALL the world and preach the Gospel to EVERY creature. (16) He that BELIEVETH and is baptized will be saved…(17) and THESE signs shall follow THOSE THAT BELIEVE; In my name THEY shall cast out devils… (18)…THEY shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” (Back to what Greg was saying):
So EVERY disciple/believer has authority to do these things. YOU have authority over demons, you have authority to cure diseases, you have authority to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick.
There are two different Greek words for “power” and “authority.”
Power is the Greek word—Dunamis—It means miraculous power or force, might, strength—the ability to do the miraculous.
Authority is the Greek word—Exousia—which means privilege, authority, capacity, competency, control, and jurisdiction.
If you are hired as a police officer they will give you:
A badge—that’s the exousia power. It gives you jurisdiction to arrest criminals, or to watch over your city.
A gun, taser, handcuffs, and a car—that would be the dunamus power.
As a police officer on duty, if you observe a theft and you see the person getting away, what would happen if you called the Chief of police, and said, “Chief, there’s a thief that is stealing.” What is the chief going to do? He’s going to say, “Go get the thief and arrest him.”
Well, Jesus gave us the jurisdiction over Healing-Ville.
WE have the jurisdiction. WE have the badge. WE have been delegated to watch over Healing-Ville.
WE have the name of Jesus, WE have word of God. WE have the gifts of the Spirit the power of God (The Holy Spirit living inside of us). So don’t go and pick up the phone and call Jesus. He is the Chief that delegated us (the police officers) to use His authority and the power of the Holy Spirit.
If a thief comes into your home, do you invite him in, or do you exercise your authority over your house and do what is necessary to protect your family? Satan is the thief. We have to exercise our authority to run him off. We have that power, Jesus gave it to us. He said in Matthew 16:19 “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” We have to take authority over whatever we don’t want. Praying to God to do something that He gave us authority over won’t work. He gave us the power, we have to use it.
When the Centurion had a servant that was sick, in Matthew chapter 8:5-13, he understood authority. He knew that Jesus had authority over sickness, and the Centurion understood that all Jesus had to do was command the healing from where he was, and his servant would be healed. Jesus delegated that same authority to us. We need to command sickness to leave. (Mark 11:23). We need to command sickness to go, and command healing to come.
To watch this portion of the sermon fast forward to minute 1:44-1:60:
You Hold the Key
I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
– Matthew 16:19
The Greek text of that scripture would literally read, “I give you the keys of the kingdom. Whatever you declare locked on earth is locked in heaven and whatever you declare unlocked on earth is unlocked in the heavenlies.”
The heaven Jesus was talking about there isn’t the heaven where God resides. He was talking about the battle zone, about the heaven where Satan’s forces are operating.
He was telling us that God has given us power to bind the wicked spirits in heavenly places and to loose the angelic powers of God to work in our behalf.
Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” Where? In heaven, in earth and under the earth. That covers it all!
As believers, we have total authority over the powers of Satan. We can take authority over the evil spirits that are trying to destroy this nation. We can take authority over them in the Name of Jesus and pull down their strongholds.
