My notes from Session 3, "The Power of Imagination" Part 2

Most of us when we are young have a very vivid imagination, but it gets beat out of us, and we are actually told to quit dreaming, and quit thinking big. 

As children we believe we can do anything, but as we get older the image on the inside begins to change, and a lot of us become pessimists and cynical.  We no longer believe we are capable.

As applied to healing, many of us are taught that you just get sick during flu season, and that’s normal.  We also taught that as we age and get older, we just expect to be pain free.  We have been taught this, and that is the image that many have.  It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. 

Your imagination is very powerful.  It is your spiritual womb, where you conceive things.  We know we can’t have a child without conception.  We know we can’t just pray and ask God to send a child by the stork and just believe God for a child.  It doesn’t work that way.  A child has to be conceived. 

The Hebrew word “yester” which is translated “mind” or “imagination” literally means conception.  This is how you conceive things, is in your imagination. 

The goal of the healing conference is to teach others how to conceive and give birth to a healing, and learn how to receive.

You have inside of you [if you are born again] the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.

Ephesian 1:18-19 (NLT) “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.  (19) I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him.  This the same mighty power (20) that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.”

See yourself well.  If you are checking your body to see if you are healed, then you are walking by sight and not by faith. 

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Our imagination is part of our thought process, we think in pictures.  I say: “Dog,” “Apple,” or “banana,” you picture these things in your mind.  You don’t see the word spelled out, you picture the item.  Words paint pictures.  I can change the picture in your mind by saying, “A big black mean dog.”  I can use descriptive words to get you to picture a different image. 

However, if I’m talking about something that you have never seen before, then you can’t picture it, and you won’t retain that information. 

1 Chronicles 29:18 “O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, keep our father, KEEP this forever in the imagination and the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their hearts unto thee:”

The request for them to KEEP it in their imaginations so that they would remember it.  If you can’t picture it in your mind, then you can’t remember it.  For example, some people have learning math or history, because they can’t picture it or see how it applies to their life.  It’s just rote memorization.  But when you can see and apply it, then it opens up to your understanding.  

You have to be able to paint pictures with your mind, just as Jesus did with parables.   The parable of the sower and the seed wasn’t talking about farming.  It was talking about the Kingdom of God, and how the Word of God works in the Kingdom.  He used something the people could see and that they were familiar with.  If you can see it, then you can retain it.  If you can’t see it in your mind, then you won’t remember it. 

Your imagination is your spiritual womb for everything.  Specifically concerning healing, you have to conceive your miracle.  The conception takes place in your imagination.  If you can’t see yourself healed, then you will have to adopt your miracle through someone else’s conception, because all babies (miracles) come through the conception process. 

Faith is conceived through hearing, and hearing the Word of God.

Andrew meditated on John 14:12 (NLT) “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to my Father.” (“In context of the book of John, “Because I go to my Father” means that when Jesus went to Heaven, He would be sending the Holy Spirit to us, and that’s how we are able to do even greater miracles that what Jesus did, through the power of the Holy Spirit.)

Andrew focused on this verse, and he pictured himself doing the same works of Jesus and raising people from the dead.  He took every passage that speaks about the dead being raised and focused on them and studied them until he understood the facts.  First he saw Jesus, Peter, Elijah, Elisha, and Paul raising people from the dead.  Then he pictured himself doing this in his imagination.  He practiced doing the things that were talked about in the various passages, and he mimicked the same things they did.  He thought about it, meditated on it, and even started dreaming about it.  Then one day a man died in real life, and Andrew pictured himself raising this person that guy from the dead.  He had spent 6 months prior to this seeing himself raising people from the dead.  That was how he conceived the miracle in his mind, and when he needed to draw on the Holy Spirit’s power in real life, he had had conceive faith in his imagination to bring the miracle to fruition.
