John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him , Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (King James Bible)
It was easy for Thomas to believe that it was Christ to whom he was speaking having touched the nail prints in His hands and the cut in His side. We today do not have that "luxury" which Thomas did and the Lord was acknowledging that very fact in verse 29. Remember what it say in Hebrews....
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (King James Bible)
We can neither "see" or "touch" Jesus in a "physical' sense today as Thomas could almost 2000 years ago yet we believe through our faith that He is who He said He was in the Gospels and we know that He did die on the cross at Golgotha, He arose on the third day and right now He is seated at the right hand of our Father and His Father in heaven. We can't obtain faith the way we obtain so called "proof" of other things in our daily lives which are discerned by our five senses. Faith requires that we step "outside" what we can see and hear and touch and simply believe without any other tangible proof other than the fact that our heart knows it to be so. That is the essence of out faith and our spirits as Christians. To beleive without seeing, as Christ said, is faith.
To have faith leads to trusting in something that lacks substance. True Christian faith, however, is confidently believing in Someone—Jesus.
When you put put your faith in Jesus you feel good during down times: When everything goes wrong we feel sad but what if we had a guarantee that everything is going to be alright? The more faith you have the less down you will feel during such times
