Nice post Penguin Peru. For me Christmas is NOT about presents, trees, eggnog, turkey, alcohol, drunk office parties. Its about Christians getting together - family as well as friends - and giving grateful thanks to God for sending His beloved Son to save us from being eternally separated from God.

For me it's about His (Jesus) Birthday Spending time with my family giving thanks and saying Thank you Jesus.

It will soon be 13 years since my first husband died in a car accident 2 days after Christmas. That Christmas he purchased a nativity scene. He was a man who once had a rough time at Christmas and spent his childhood bracing himself for the negative fallout of a drunk father. He was not sure if there was a God or not and he use to say, I will believe it when I see it.

Something happened to his heart that Christmas that we got a glimpse of before he died. God gives beautiful gifts and they are all around us throughout the year, but nothing compares to the gift the nativity scene reminds us of at Christmas time that changes hearts.

christmas to me means family, friends. and if christ hadnt of died for me i wouldnt have any ofthem. christmas is about 'giving'. not jst presents but the girf of the holy ghost. we can give joy to another person by bringing christ into there lives.

I don't care for Christmas...It is hard not getting into presents, cards and all the STUFF... I'd like to go to a place for the whole week of Christmas and just Praise and Worship the One who deserves all, for giving His all...He gave up Heaven to come save us...How do you say Thank You for that... I go into my room and do some Praise and Worship but not enough, never enough...love cathyww

To me, Christ gave me the gift of Salvation when He was crucified voluntarily on the cross. That's a gift that keeps on giving!

MY WIFE AND I SOMETIMES JOKE AROUND SAYING WERE JAHOVAHS WITNESS'S BECAUSE WE BOTH DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE AMERICAN MATERIALISM THAT CHRISTMAS IN THE WORLD HAS TURNED IN TO THESE DAYS.

Nothing for me actually i think it is a pagan holiday.I still celebrate it but only to a certain point.

Gzus i don't get caught up with the materialism either.I don't worry about getting everybody gifts.I don't get myself into debt that i shouldn't.I have a small tree and my children get one gift from us.We have expalined to them the true meaning of christmas.

The true meaning is the birth of Jesus Christ the Son of the living God and the Savior of the world.

christmas has a lot of meaning, but mostly, i spend time reflecting on the Gospels. in addition to which, i eat, i cook, i wrap, i buy, i give, i decorate, i watch sappy movies...and the list goes on, but look at my post, He comes first...

To me, Christmas is about the best gift we ever received. We got it 2000 years ago, it was just what we always needed and wanted and nobody can take it away. I love to be able to bless the people around me with food and stuff, but sometimes it just doable. Yes, I know most of the traditions for Christmas are pagan in origin but it does get people thinking about God, those who don't usually do think that way. So... Merry Christmas and thank God for the blessings and grace that he gives us
