As my days living here in the states are getting shorter and the Dec. 1st departure to Peru is approaching, I continue to ask for your prayers. I'm excited with the knowledge that God is behind me on this and I know there's some people with their doubts. My situation is much deeper because it's sooooo profound! I have my problems with doubts sometimes, but I know that's of Satan. I have my problems of knowing I'm going to be homesick at first, missing my family back in the states. I'm going to be sad, but yet encouraged (kinda strange, isn't it?).

Listen, I really, really, from the bottom of my heart, want to thank you all for praying for me! If only you knew how much that helps! Right now, please continue to do so as the Lord directs you. Thanks again!

Right now as I enter the second to the last month, I'm kinda packing, looking for things to bring and looking for things to leave. I already have my passport ready! :) I'm working on my visa portion but haven't decided which kind of visa to settle on. I'm gonna have to decide soon though--probably within the next month.

I'm still in shock and can't believe I'm even typing this. I have more to say soon, but right now I can't think of everything. My emotions are too mixed at the moment.

Is there danger? How long will you be gone? Do they have internet/ internet cafe's etc where you will be? Mountains and Summer, mmmm! Beach and Summer too? And ministry.

Do you have connections to ministry there? A church you visit? And ten thousand other questions! Tom

I keep you in my prayers. Be very sure of your calling because that is what will keep you going when times get rough.

I know Peru is beautiful and the fields are white unto harvest. My best friend is from Peru, and she said she can almost lead every person she talks to about Christ to accept. I pray you will also find the same thing, and your journey will also minister to "the least of these". God bless

Tom, I'm doing this for the people. A quick history: I have been on assignment to Peru three times and yes, I was in the poor sites in Lima. Also, I was in Chiclayo and Ica. In all three of my trips there, I never went to the more trendy areas of Peru such as Machu Picchu, good parts of Cusco and Arequipa. No, it was to serve the villagers and those in shanty towns. No, I will likely be away from much communication. Yes, it will be summer, but beaches are not interesting and mountains are where a lot of Inca peoples come from, so they do need to be reached. I'm praying God will lead me to these places. As for the seasons, almost all of them are the same.

I've served with Compassion, but I do have a church down there I'll be attending. I'll let God handle the rest. Just keep me posted. Richard

Thanks Angela for your support! This has been one of the toughest decisions I've made in my entire life! However, I know from my heart that God is leading me to Peru because things are falling into place so easily, thanks be to Him. It's like what I like to say: If it is as easy as slicing butter with a steak knife, than it's likely from God, but if it is as hard as slicing rubber with a butter knife, you better think again because more likely God is not behind it. I've had the latter happen to me on a few occasions and I understood that either it was not a good time or God just simply said "No, I've got something better for you down the road."
