THE WAY OF THE LAMB
The life in the Most Holy Place is following the way of the Lamb. It seems that some have a incomplete or wrong idea about the way of the Lamb. It is expressly written in Rev. 14.4: "they follow the Lamb, wherever He goes."
When thinking of the Lamb of God, most think just of His behaviour on the day of His death. We must not forget, however, that His whole life from birth to His death was the Lamb's way of perfect obedience to His father. The prophetic ministry of bearing witness preceded the priestly ministry of sacrifice. But the former was the true way to the ministry on the cross. This fact, though, is completely overlooked by some believers. He did not only come into the world to suffer and die but His first task was: "I was born and for this reason I came into the world to bear witness to the truth." Only this prophetic ministry of bearing witness to the truth and against the lies in any form, prepared the way for the Lamb to suffer and to die. Without this prophetic ministry, He would never have been nailed to the cross., for His opponents once said: "we are not stoning you for your miracles, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God." This was only a half-truth. The whole truth was that they were convicted in their conscience and were not ready to submit to the truth. Therefore, against their better judgment, they had to brand the Lord as demon-possessed. Now at this point begins the way of the Lamb. He does not bow to the lie. By being silent He could have spared Himself a lot of suffering and the cross. But the nearer He came to the end of His prophetic ministry, the fiercer became His battle against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. (Mt.23) We are required by the Lord to do the same: "If any man want to follow me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." The way of the Lamb is therefore, for us too, the way of bearing witness to the truth and against lies and wrongs, for He says: "If your brother sins against you, go, reprove him..."(Mt. 18.15)We can't neglect to disobey this command and delude ourselves that we still follow the Lamb; for He says: "If you love me, you keep my commands." So not through silence - as some think - but through our reproving witness we follow the Lamb. This must happen, though, with priestly intercession, with a gentle spirit and divine love. As long we are still in a fleshly, inner agitation, we have no right to speak, but must first overcome our own, old nature. Only then, when we have become quite calm in ourselves, we can bear witness with divine authority to the wrong, with the expressed goal to win the sinning soul for the Lord; for who knowingly does wrong is separated from the Lord and will be thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur. If we are walking in the Most Holy Place, we are taking these Words of God most seriously.
It would be unkind and cruel, if we allow our neighbour to head for his destruction, without warning. The love for our Saviour and our neighbour must compel us to carry out this prophetic ministry, even if we are accused of being unloving and are not understood by Christians in their fleshly or natural love. If we are urged, however, by this divine love to bear witness, we will only be silent, when our work of life is finished or when the entrusted souls can't be saved anymore, because they have us, like the Master, nailed to the cross for the sake of our ministry. This is in short the way of the Lamb, from cross to glory.
Who does not agree with the uncovering of sins in believers should consider, that the Bible speaks in all frankness of the sins of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as well as of the sins of other pious men, like Moses and David.
In the most Holy Place nothing is hushed up, but ruthlessly exposed. But now there is further to take into consideration, though, that even Satan can uncover sin, just as he can praise the Blood of Christ and the grace of God as a cover-up for evil. He cannot, however, lead the sinner to repentance and submission to Christ, for no-one can call Jesus LORD, except through the Holy Spirit.
