THE FALL OF MAN AND THE CROSS
For our complete understanding of the full redemption and its effect on spirit, soul and body, we have to consider first the consequences of the Fall, then our inability for any good in our flesh and finally the divine judgement of the adamic creation, which lost any possibility of development or improvement. Between the nature of Adam and the world of the second Adam is a gulf that never can be bridged. The Cross and Tomb of Calvary divide these two worlds forever and point to the only way to life.
When man had to leave the paradise the access to the tree of life was cut off. Through the Cross, a new and living way was prepared - what miracle and what wisdom of God's omnipotence. Paul says in 1.Cor. 15.34: "Awake to righteousness and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame"; and before that he says, "Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive, unless it dies." With God death always precedes life. this is what God especially wants to make known in our time, that our life must first die with Christ through our surrender of faith. Only then can the righteousness, required by the law, be fulfilled in us by Christ becoming our life through the power of the Spirit, a life that bears fruit for God and presents us as witnesses of Christ and His resurrection.
What disaster had resulted if the fallen nature of man - destined to death on the Cross - would have been able to force his way to the tree of life to seize eternal life. No, first comes death and then new birth through which we are baptised into the one, eternal Spirit. Only then we can as members of the body of Christ enter the paradise anew to stay there for eternity.
Just as God in His omniscience and wisdom foresaw the debacle of the Fall, so He also knew that His beloved Son, the living Word, the last Adam would destroy the works of Satan so that He could show in future ages the all-surpassing riches of His grace and goodness toward us in Christ. Then righteousness will rule on earth and the knowledge of the Lord will fill the land.
We live in a significant time when the people of God are given the choice whether to be satisfied with just being saved by the skin of their teeth, as one escaping through flames, or be willing to "follow the Lamb, wherever He goes" and to be found in Him (Phil. 3.9), namely to be enthroned with Christ in the heavenly realms among the overcomers. This is the reality and truth of all men since the Fall. Praise be to God that He sent His only Son to walk among us to bridge that gap, through His crucifiction, death and resurrection, between Himself and us which the law could NEVER accomplish. ALL THE HONOR, GLORY AND PRAISE ARE HIS!!!! Amen
