The Accusing Spirit

Please read this as the enemy of our soul tries to make us feel guilty over past sins.

We should confess our sins and then know we are forgiven and move on from there, in freedom in Christ Jesus.

What a powerful message. Thanks for posting this, Kathilee. It is so easy to listen (and even believe) to that terrible voice telling you you are a failure and bad. How glorious it is to remember that God does not speak to us that way, he does not treat us that way. He loves us and His mercy is limitless.

I read somewhere that to repent and accept forgiveness from God and then turn around and kick yourself over that old forgiven sin is dissing God. This might also be a helpful way of thinking about it when we work to ignore that accusing spirit.

Great reminder Kathilee. I had some things go wrong the other day and I was about to go into the old "why does everything have to happen to me" mode. I cut it off right away and started talking to Jesus that I don't want to live with that mindset any more. I know people make fun of Christians talking about the enemy this or that, but it's true. He lies waiting for an opportunity to redirect our thoughts away from God so that we forget who we are in Christ. (((HUGS)))

Some time ago there was a popular saying, 'This is the first day of the rest of your life'. I don't remember if it was connected to spiritually matters but it could be. When Jesus spoke of being reborn I see the connection. Being forgiven of sins we are no longer burdened by our past guilt, we may still have to deal with consequence of our sin but we are unburdened before God of guilt.
