I've been praying for the people affected by the fires. My best friend from high school lives there, but says she is safe, hopefully in Edmonton with her family. But so many others devastated by the fires. Our pastor in BC said in church this morning he was doing a destination wedding for a couple from Fort MacMurray. He got a phone call saying the bride and groom were ok, and they even had the wedding dress and rings.

BUT, 4 of the members of her wedding party lost first their jobs from the oil shut down, and now their homes were destroyed by the fire. She cancelled the wedding. So sad for all of them.

By the way, if you have heard any Hollywood stars talk about how bad Fort MacMurray is bad for the environment, don't believe them. The Athabasca River was completely polluted from oil coming to the surface and polluting it. Trees were stunted wherever the oil was near the surface, and animals got caught in oil pits and died all the time. The oil companies are going a long way to cleaning up the mess.

As for the carbon footprint, it is incredibly low, compared to major cities anywhere around the globe. Let's not let any more if this cruel and ignorant talk about how bad the oil sands are get going, after all these people have suffered. After all, not only do we use the oil, but every single green source of energy needs petroleum products for parts and to make them work.

My heart broke when I heard about all the people being displaced. Prayers for everyone affected.

Thank you dear Brighte. We are okay.. We have had other challenges happeing but God is right with us and bringing us through .. Had some smoky air here yesterday but my heart is breaking very much for all the people who lost homes and jobs. I have been praying. There are so many fires burning in Canada right now and the conditions are extremely dry. Lets pray for rain.
