According to Matthew 25 there are two kind of Christians. The wise virgins and the foolish virgins. Ten virgins went out with their burning lamps to meet the bridegroom. Only the wise ones had an extra vessel for oil and therefore when the time of the bridegroom to return came, they are welcomed by the Lord, while the foolish ones had to hear the devastating verdict of the Lord: I don't know you. In the same way I believe that in the end time there are two kind of Churches: Philadelphia and Laodicea. While the church of Philadelphia has the complete approval of the Lord, the church of Laodicea is, because of her lukewarm state, in danger of being spat out. Although born- again Christians they have a very harsh verdict from the Lord. I don't want to frighten anyone or rob them of their assurance of salvation, but just to point out that there will be Christians who follow the gently drawing of the Spirit and step by step progress in their sanctification until it is complete, and those who rest on their laurels, like conversion and new birth or the experience of the baptism of the Spirit, and are on some point in their life disobedient to the Holy Spirit and get stuck and get lukewarm. The Lord wants to sanctify us through and through, that our spirit, soul and body may be kept blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.(Thess.5.23) To be able to do this God needs our willingness to obey His Spirit and follow Him wherever He wants to lead us. That means a complete surrender of our will in order to be at His disposal.

It's a beautiful and a perfect example of harmony to walk with the lord. To give your complete control over to him and ask him to take the "throne of your life". To be in the drivers seat and say, "lord wherever you want to take me, even if it's through more suffering and giving of all my comfort and reassurance in my life, I want to give my all to you". I myself have done this, but in a semi-reluctant way. I was still scared to give full control because I knew if I was inspired to do something (i.e. give my time and generously to a charity) that I may not necessarily have the support of my spouse (shared income means we both have to be okay with how our money is spent, how our time is spent as well as we have a young daughter). That's understandable but I am still determined not to allow fear to be a ruler in my life. I want the lord to be in the drivers seat and speak to my heart in the form of inspiration. I think it's already happening, my husband is developing a relationship with God and I believe we're now on the path to both give ourselves fully to our lord. On the plus side God only allows for what we can handle. With him and with the strength, peace and love he provides I know we're on the right path. Praise Jesus for his patients :)

I love this post. Thankyou for writing the very truth. It took me a long time as a Christian to submit and be willing to surrender my will..I am not always good..but I want to please the Lord by being obedient and I love Hima nd know that He loves me ..This is getting stronger and stronger..me feeling and knowing the truth about Gods love and life gets better and better..does it mean I don't have struggles ? no..but through them I know He is there,,,, guiding, helping, loving

Thank you for posting, this is just what I needed to read. I am having difficulty in fully submitting to the Lord in everything, but then sometimes I get caught up in rules and regulations, what do you do and what don't you do?? Just call me a work in progress.

Before we can give ourselves completely to the Lord we need our eyes opened by a revelation of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus loved us first, that He died for us not just to wash away our sins with His blood, but that He died, that we might be dead with Him to sin and our old self (Romans 6) and alive to God, to present our bodies to Him for His service. God used a book by Watchman Nee (The Normal Christian Life), which I can very much recommend, to reveal to me, that Jesus not only died for me and my sins but that I died with Him. This revealed knowledge should be the foundation of our sanctification as the Lord says in John 17.17-19: Sanctify them by the truth; you word is the truth...For them I sanctify myself, that they may be truly sanctified. The Lord called out on the cross: It is finished! Because of God we are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us the wisdom of God - that is, our righteousness, sanctification and redemption (of the body)(1.Corinth. 1.30) After God revealed this truth to me, my faith was severely tested. Fleshly desires that has disappeared at my conversion reared their head again. The strong desire to read the Bible and to pray and to be alone with the Lord grew weaker and weaker. God was leading me into the desert of the soul and I was learning through many disappointments to depend on the precious promises of the Bible like: The Spirit of truth will guide you into all the truth and "the Lord is my shepherd, I will not want". All my own efforts to grow in the Lord and to sanctify myself came to nothing.(Roman 7) Everything we can receive from God can only be received be faith from first to last. I am glad to give witness to the fact that an overcoming life as described by Paul in Romans 8 is possible and want to encourage anyone who wants to be perfect as our father in heaven is perfect, not to give up, but trust in God's promises, because they are already fulfilled in Christ.(2.Corith.1.20)

What you wrote Walter..is such the truth and I feel the energy of love moving through me as I read the words. Yes I have experienced a similar thing as I slowly went into the desert and finally came to a surrendering. There is where the Holy Spirit, God and Jesus are. in the surrender of self. There lies the hope for everyone.
