PEARLS OF DIVINE PROMISES 34
You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it. John 14.14
When in spite of the willingness of God so many prayers remain unanswered, most often the reason is that the promises of God are attached to conditions which are not met. One of the conditions is the prayer in the name of Jesus. It is not answered because of our being well-behaved or pious, for we are not entitled to anything from God. All the physical and spiritual blessings we enjoy from God we have received for the sake of the merits of Jesus which He purchased for us through His work of redemption at Calvary. So when we want to pray in the name of Jesus, we first have to relinquish all entitlements we think we have from God and only rely on the merit of Jesus Christ, for “in Him all promises are Yes and Amen. ”
“Surely the arm of the Lord is not to short to save, nor His ear to dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear”… Isaiah 59.1-3
The main obstacles for answers of our prayers are sins which we are not ready to relinquish. The may seem trifles to us but before God there are no trifles. Disobedience remains disobedience, whether concerning a small or big matter. “For he who is dishonest in very little is dishonest also in much.” This can be a small theft, a misappropriation or a lie, we are not willing to confess. When the Holy Spirit uncovers and admonishes, we must obey.
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11.25
Open or concealed unwillingness to forgive is often the reason why we make no progress in our spiritual life and our prayers are not answered. Frequently it is a secret grudge or a strained relationship that hinders our growth. Talking things out openly in love can quickly get rid of this hindrance.

Then one day you realize you are just being disrespected left and right, and even those who call themselves Christians are disrespectful, and you think they would recognize you are honoring the Father. But they don't. And though I realized it was God that was important, it didn't change the dilemma. Finally, I thought cutting off certain relationships was best, and though I held no hate in my heart towards my past abusers, I did still hold resentment, pain and grief for what "should have been". Well I struggled with this for years. And I do still find it difficult to distinguish between pain and resentment of what was and forgiveness. I do think only the Holy Spirit can fill you up with the kind of love it takes to forgive deeply and love your offenders. It is the best thing for us, but we don't have to put ourselves in the same room with the offenders ever again. That doesn't mean you don't forgive them. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on what I've gone through and still do, with the obedience of forgiveness. It seems one of the hardest things, but when you realize the grace of forgiveness the Lord has granted us, it make it easier.
Thank you so much for sharing . I believe I have forgiven my abusers but have no contact with them. I pray for them but still feel riddled with guilt for not embracing them.
