Whoever asks in faith to know the will of God is never going to be disappointed. In some way or other God will give clarity about His will. Sometimes He arranges outer circumstances In such a way that we can see clearly His hand behind them to make His will known.
"My soul finds rest in God alone who saves me." Psalm 62.1
An inner stillness is necessary to get to know the will of God. In the ups and downs and excitement of everyday life with its varied impressions, the voice of God can rarely be heard. One should therefore never act in a state of soulish agitation.
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out in the world." 1.John 4.1
When someone is not trained in hearing the voice of God, there is a danger, that proved the undoing of many a believer. This danger consists in mistaking the inspiration of the own heart or even demonic voices for the voice of God and thereby being led astray. We must be careful of pressing and forceful voices, for Satan likes driving us to act in a rash and ill-considered way. However, we must not go to the other extreme and do nothing at all, when the Lord calls us to a task.
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no-one can snatch them out of my hand." John.10.27-28
In this promise lies quite a wonderful assurance for the anxious heart, that worries about being led astray by deceiving spirits. When even a foolish sheep knows the voice of its shepherd, how much more will the child of God know the voice of the Good Shepherd. Only be careful to follow Him to the best of your knowledge and belief.
"Everyone who is if the truth hears my voice." John 18.37
This word was spoken to a heathen. It is even possible to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, without being His sheep. The only thing that is necessary is a sincere and truth-loving heart. Such love for truth is unfortunately often lacking in some people who want to be believers, and therefore they find it hard to recognise the will of God. They must become sincere and truthful with themselves and keep praying for the guidance of the Spirit of truth.

I have heard many people wrongfully say of unanswered prayers or ask why God hasn’t answered their prayers. I truthfully believe that God answers all of our prayers, but out of our own ignorance, we don’t always hear his answers. Sometimes what we take as his silence and an unanswered prayer is God’s actual answer of no to our prayer request. Just because we ask for something in prayer doesn’t mean God will always say yes, sometimes he says no and we just don’t want to hear it or believe it. God answers all prayers. It would be foolish for me to think he doesn’t.
