I may speak in tongues of men or of angels, but if I am without love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal. I may have the gift of prophecy, and know every hidden truth; I may have faith strong enough to move mountains; but if I have no love, I am nothing.

I may dole out all I possess, or even give my body to be burnt, but if I have no love, I am none the better.

Love is patient; love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, not quick to take offense. Love keeps no score of wrongs; does not gloat over other men's sins, but delights in the truth. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope, and its endurance.

The "love" chapter of 1Corinthians chapter 13 is my very favorite! The description of what LOVE truly is, the way that God describes it..the best.

"There is nothing love cannot face..." was a sentence straight from God through you to my heart. He is stretching me so thin, and I'm seeing where my selfishness can get in the way. He wants me to give while it hurts. His words are alive and active, and they just came alive for me. Thanks so much for posting this one...

that scripture passage is the best definition of love, by far anywhere or at anytime.
I remember that scriptural passage very well b/c it was read as the 2nd reading at my wedding nearly 20 yrs. ago

I was a child when I first heard this passage in a Christmas Carol movie (the one with Allistair Sim as Scrooge) in a scene during the visit from the Christmas Present Spirit. I remember being struck by the words- the power, the clarity, the utter necessity of love.

Those words have always stuck with me. How lovely to hear them again.

It is always great to review the way God describes LOVE..

Love isnt just a feeling it is an action we can choose to love or not love.Truly to Love means being willing todo what ever ittaes for another freind or stranger. Sacrificially not thinking of self not counting cost.
We do not see much any more but the whole world seems to recognise it and sends a mighty cheer up for those who display it.

consider Mother theresa she could have been much more comfortable but she chose a life of Love for fer fellow man.

many are proclaimed heroes for their service and acrifice, many more go unrecognised because one who lives this type of life does not seek glory or honour but simply wants to serveGod and others,

This is my favorite also and I needed to read it again, Praise God for His words of love to help us all.

U2 is unashamed of considering itself in believing in Jesus& have done great philanthropy. they have a great song called "LOVE AND PEACE" and when I first saw your post I thought of that.
the song hasn't made it to any of their albums but definitely look for it on YouTube. It's anti-war
