I heard something the other day....

I heard something the other day that I thought was pretty kool. We arem't people with souls. We are souls that just happen to have bodies. ')

The people I meet with believe that also. I tend toward believing in the triune, spiritual human: We are spirits, we have souls, and we live in a body. It is similar to what you've said. Only, the soul becomes a vehicle, just as the body is a vehicle.

The spirit would be alive, and joined with Christ, if we are believers. Otherwise, the spirit is dead. Nevertheless, the soul is the seat of the mind, will, and emotions. But the spirit is our actual "living", in relation to God, the Father of spirits.

Hebrews 12:9 "Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?"

1 Cor. 6:17 "But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit"

Some take the soul and the spirit as the same idea- the inner, real person. Good topic, Pogo!

In the Hebrew, the word is nephesh and the word has many different meanings. The word for body is more like the word for substance, and it is me'od. They also believe that leb is the heart or mind. That is why when it says in Deut. 6: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."

Jesus quotes it saying not three things, but four "And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27. Because the mind is the heart of a person, and Jesus wanted to use both terms in the Greek or Aramaic.

Well my plan is to be a spiritual being having a human experience .Now my head and ego do get in the way at times but in the end the soul still flies my palne.

challenger what an interesting way to look at it., I love the idea and it might help keep things in better perspective, (I worry way too much) thank you All of this,, this world and the craziness and cruelty and love is all an experience. It's not really real our real home, Our real world is with God..
