Jules, please reach out to your husband or to someone else and talk about your feelings. Wanting out of this life is a scary way to feel, let someone help you. You may need medical help at this time.

Everybody goes through periods where they don't feel God. I remember reading that Mother Theresa went through a "dry" spell where she did not feel God's presence that lasted for years. And she's a Saint! Ultimately, she said that this dry period helped her better understand the pain that our Lord endured for us.

Talking to family doesnt help....yes its scary to want to be gone, but peaceful also...but dont worry im not going to end my own life...God is in control of that, at least I think he is..
Ive never really felt close to God...I so desperatly want to but dont know how or why I cant...Im just so lost...
But please dont worry about my safety, I may give into urges of self injury, but nothing to serious.

I read something last night about growing closer to God in prayer. Just reciting standard prayers, talking to God like a friend, or sitting in silence can help you feel His presence.

For many, quieting the mind is what helps them feel God. I have trouble stopping, slowing down, quieting my mind sometimes. But who says you can't pray and seek God while on the move! I find I am most able to quiet my mind when I'm doing a chore- like picking up the dog poop in the yard or vacuuming the living room.

Hang in there Jules. God is with you. Keep seeking Him.

When the believer relinquishes his soul, his will, his all to his Lord, desires nothing of himself and desires only God for the sake of God ( and that, in a state of passionate love), then we see that he has made a good beginning. Why? Because HERE is a state where there is no enjoyment with the self AS AN END IN VIEW!

I find that worship songs help me feel God's presence, and feel close to Him. I would like t challenge you to find an all Christian radio station, listen only to this station for, say, 30 days, and see what happens!! Try klove.com on your computer. Their motto is "positive and encouraging"!!!

There are also times full of worry, like when I'm driving in city traffic, that I talk to God!! Like I would a friend who is in the car with me. (Because He is!!) "That fool could use some help. Be with them, Lord!!"

Hi, First of all , I want to thank you for opening up, because I think its a good step in healing . The enemy tries to attack all believers. Just remember God is more powerful and He loves you. He created you. I used to have disparaging thoughts with severe anxiety, depression and panic. I went to speak to my pastor and it helped.I speak to a therapist regularly as well. If you have a minister, or pastor or priest who you can talk to regularly, it should help.

The devil wants you to believe bad things about yourself, but he lies.

I became closer to God when I took a class at my church called journey to wholeness and I began reading scripture everyday. Reading scripture outloud is a sword against the enemy . Christian music helps as well.

Repeat outloud everyday, God loves me.

I will pray for you to know Gods loves, peace, and comfort and joy.

You've gotten some great advice which I encourage you to try. When God sees you seeking Him, He will notice. Try rededicating your life to Him. You don't need to go anywhere to do it. Just spend quite time with God and ask for Him to refresh your spirit. Talk to Him as you would any friend sitting in front of you. Tell Him you want to experience a closer relationship with Him and you need Him to show you how.

Confession is another great way to feel closer to God. Do you do things you know you shouldn't? Bring those things to the Lord and ask for Him to forgive you and help you overcome them with His strength. It's something I started doing this year and the results are amazing to say the least. It breaks strong holds. I have been struggling with envy and jealousy and I have managed to nip those feelings in the bud when I go to God with it.

It is important to protect your eyes and ears from things that are not godly. What you watch and listen to impacts you in a big way without realizing it. If you don't listen to KLove already I highly recommend MaryTurk's suggestion in reply 7. The music is positive and encouraging. The apostle Paul said in his letter to the Philippians......whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Jesus is with you. When you really know he is present, his reality of love and concern for you, captures your heart. We may not feel His presence but by faith we know He is with us . Be still and know that he is God. Try to quiet your anxious thoughts.

His presence, sacrificial love and the gifts that he lavishes on you, captives your heart. Jesus urges you to rest with him and know the enemy is Under your feet and Not worthy to have any of your focus or attention. I am praying for you .
