It doesn't matter what the 'issue' is... for one person its sexual desire, for another its alcohol abuse, for another its laziness... its all the same thing...
so what can you do?
Realize that the battle is already won, and that you are on the winning side, with God, and then speak that into and over your situation. Utter it with the sound of your voice. Power of life and death in the tongue, remember. Watch every word that comes out of your mouth, and rebuke anything that does not align with Gods will for you. In this situation, and every other.
And then realize that sex is not a bad thing to want. Its normal to want it, and it is healthy to enjoy it (in covenant). Don't let the devil convince you that your desires are bad. God made sex enjoyable for a reason... He wants us to enjoy it WITH our intended partner. SO practice patience as God works in you and your future partner in preparing you for eachother. Realize that there is a difference between desiring sex and following through on the ACT of sex. Also, notice if/when you may have lustfully objectified another person, and confess it and receive His Mighty Grace. Allow Him to cover it with His blood. Don't take it back on your heart once you have given it up to Him. If you are prone to surrounding yourself with things that encourage lustful thoughts, change your surroundings (whether that means selecting more wholesome tv shows, media, websites, etc) and do your best to keep your appearance modest so that you do not invoke lustful responses from others, which can not only encourage you to temptation, but the others, too.
Thank you for your post and your courage. May Gods peace always be with you. Your servant in Christ, Joseph
Kimmy, as for judging you, I don't have the right to do so because I have struggled with the same thing from time to time. God won't judge you either because any sin you commit has already been paid for at the cross. God bless you and keep you strong.
James said "12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, âI am tempted by Godâ; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."
You know a lot of people want to rehabilitate the flesh, to clean up the pig and bring him to the dining table, but when you let the pig go, it runs right back to the mudd. No the only solution for the flesh is death, as in crucified with Christ, that the life I now live I live by faith in the Son of God.
None of us judge, we too are tempted and as James points out the desires come from within, that old sin nature. Paul wrote about this in Galatians 5 when he pointed out that the flesh wars against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh. This is why Paul wrote in Romans 8 that all of creation even we ourselves groan within ourselves waiting patiently for that final redemption! Walk circumspectly in these last days, for certainly the Lord comes quickly and we want to be ready.
This is just my own personal experience.
I once lagged so behind I finally quit and said this is way to hard..Thank God Jesus stopped and kept calling me..I learned I couldn't do it on my on no matter how much I tried, no matter how much I said I wouldn't let it happen again..I had to let go of All my desires and let God handle them..I've had to let go of everything in my life and put him in control..Yes it was hard at first..but it does get easier..
If you must think about your wedding night then think what a blessing you will bestowed upon that night by waiting. How you did God will by waiting and how he will bless you for it...like so many others I didn't wait and I wish I had.. what more of a gift besides marriage can you give to the man you love than waiting for him to be first between the union God created.
