In 1 Peter Chapter 3 v18-20 it talks about Jesus doing that, but I cannot think of anything in scripture saying believers will. Paul said in Philippians that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Ask these women to show you where in scripture it talks about a spirit world

There is a realm between heaven and hell that is called Hades and is a purgatory for souls who are not able to appear in the presence of God because of some sin, they still hold on to. As long they stay there, their final fate is still undecided and they can go either way. Note also the example of Lazarus and the rich man. Both were still in purgatory and not in the actual hell. The thief next to Jesus on the cross was promised paradise, which is actually a part of Hades, where Jesus went to preach the Gospel to the dead.

From the way I understand scripture and was taught, when you die, you get judged and it’s heaven or hell directly. There is no in between anything. No limbo state, no semi-hell or heaven, no hades or purgatory, and no spiritual world. When you die, if you are not in heaven, you are in hell.

The concept of Purgatory and sin that is still hanging onto a person, is a Catholic belief.

About Hades, look at Rev. 20.13: "death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them...then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. the lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." This is the last judgment.

1 Peter Chapter 3 v18-20 is the only verses that they gave me. I tried to argue that only Christ was able to do this well, because He IS CHRIST. They keep arguing that we can do it too. They are trying to get through to me and I am trying to get through to them. Please pray for me. They will be here tomorrow.

It might be better to stop letting them into your home and debating who's right and who's wrong.

Well....as far as I know there would be no reason for anyone to do so because like dancingd said, it's not doctrine. The Bible doesn't give any indication there will be a second chance one the body dies.
