there are lots of verses that say not to worry...but why do we worry? why shouldnt we worry? what is it all about??? We are created spiritual beings...the burdens we feel that we worry over...these burdens are spiritual burdens from God...i feel them all the time...the thing is, we are corrupt so instead of doing what we were desighned to do with these burdens, we do useless or destructive things.
The focus of this verse really needs to be on the instruction we are called to..instead of worrying...we are being called to pray. We need to pray and Thank God...in other words pray with thanksgiving...when we thank God for everything..especially the things we dont like....that really shows our trust in God. God is in control...so when i am in pain...I trust God ...I thank God..and I even find Joy in my suffering because God has a purpose in it for my good and the good of all who love HIm. usually my suffering is all about God working to teach me something, but not always.
I awoke this morning with a burden for a friend of mine...She is a lovely person who is new in christ and spiritually immature and in danger of drifting...So I began praying for her over these things.
Mandy, I am praying about your job with thanks, I am praying about your children and their first day of school with thanks, I am praying about your financial situation with thanks...Stacey I am praying about your school, and your health and your concerns over your future with thanksgiving for the condition your life is in right now.
Somtimes i like to play with scripture...this is a place i like to play...read the same verses again this way...
"in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving,present your requests to God: do not worry, and the peace of God which trancends all understanding will gaurd your hearts and minds in christ jesus." Our Focus needs to be on God(collosians 3:1and 2)
This reminds me of other verses, ephesians 5:20, Romans 8:28 and isiah 26:3 and paslms 55:22...there are at least a half dozen more that come to my mind.
I have no burdens to share, I do not worry I pray with thanksgiving...my mind is stayed on God and my peace is perfect(when it changes i know i am not trusting God over something its just that simple) Perfect peace is ours for the accepting...it is available, we only have to seek it, and trust God for all things, with thanksgiving especially for things we dont like. God is my comfort, my comfort is perfect.
I do pray for my mother, who worries continually over many many things. Her name is Elaine if you choose to add ur prayers to mine for her over her worry and hardness of heart and her bitterness and anger.
May the peace of our God which trancends all understanding always gaurd your minds and hearts in Christ jesus our lord.
