Hi, I am new here and am thrilled that thig group exists. We have been going to church for 13 years. Of that 6 years we went to my husbands church of his parents. There was nothing there that helped us as Christians grow. I mean it heled our daughter because she was 5 at the time. So with our summer schedule we had a chance to have a break from church and that gave me the time to explain to my husband that I know there was so much more to God.
Well then we went to a "Gharamatic " church and at first we were a litlle scared. But then we kept going and really started to enjoy it and began finding a totally different precense of God. It was great. Everytime the doors were open we were there. We were growing leaps and bounds and were really finding out what a personal relationship with Jesus was all about. So we we had been there going on 5 years. To our dismay our Pastor and his wife kind of sneakingly took a job at a bigger church in another state. He always preached about wanting a huge cogregation. The thing was how they did it. It was not told to the congregation until 2 weeks before they moved and they knew way before that.
So we had the choice of 2 Pastors to vote on. Unfortunately the Bishop over ruled the church's desicion and brought in the Pastor we as a church did not vote for. So we are still reeling from the knife in our heart from the first bout of news and then this happens. Well we stayed there a year and really tried to give it a shot. We love the Pastor and his wife but he just did not have the experience or the drive. He came in and made so many changes that literally tore our church apart. There were so many of us that left.
So then for another year we went to anothe "charasmatic" church and enjoyed Sunday School and the Preaching but some things just didn;t fit.
So many of the families that left are really floundering and some have even fallen away. I am afraid that is what is going to happen to us. I love God with all my heart and I want nothing more to give my time worshipping him and doing his works on this earth but we cannot seem to find a church that "suits" us. None just don't feel like we belong. I know that we are not going to find a church exactly like our other one but I see my husband falling away and turning back to the "wordly" ways. I miss church and know we need it. Does anyone have any suggestions.
I pray on this and have even went as far as to look different churches with the same denominations that is around us but something always comes up. Either I do not feel well or my husband is working. I know Satan would love nothing more than us to turn away from God but I will not let that happen. If anyone has any suggestions my mind is wide open. Thank you and have a great weekend :)

When I found my previous Church, I was more of a baby in Christ, and when I was there, I just knew this was where I was meant to be, I asked God why, was it the charismatic Pastor, the great music, the energy? and God clearly said look around you, it is the people here, these are the ones I want you to walk with for this part of your journey - and 10 years later when I left, I looked back and He was so right.
The teaching wasn't that great [no meat] but the people and the journey, and the doors that opened- wow!
I found it hard when I moved to replicate that, but I don't believe that is necessarily what God requires.
I now belong to a Church which is much smaller,but gives everything out and the Pastor is a Missions orientated, teaching Pastor who lives the word, and I love the interesting way he shares and expounds the Word that he is so passionate about. The presence of The Holy Spirit is tangible, especially during Praise and Worship, even my 82 year old Anglican Mum [who had problems getting her head around Church in a Shed not having the 'reverence' of a traditional Church] has said you can sure feel the Presence of God here. She now has a clearer concept of reverence, and loves coming with me.
I have a new home, with a different fit, but I have spiritually grown as well.
My Bible College Pastor [I attended at the prior Church as a bible study only - for the teaching I was missing] wisely said you need to try any new Church for 4 weeks minimum, to really know what a Church is really like, so ask God to help you find one, pray, commit to it and GO. Be friendly and open to others when you are there, pray, and see what happens after 4 weeks- You won't know if you don't go!
