Faith That Works

Genuine faith changes us. It's not merely intellectual agreement with certain facts about Jesus or a one-time prayer that leaves us unchanged. True faith transforms how we live. James puts it bluntly: faith without works is dead. This doesn't mean we earn salvation through our good deeds. Rather, our actions demonstrate whether our faith is alive and real. When we truly believe in Jesus, that belief naturally produces fruit in our lives. Some people mistakenly believe that saying a prayer guarantees eternal life, regardless of how they live afterward. But Jesus Himself warned that not everyone who calls Him "Lord" will enter His kingdom – only those who do the Father's will. This isn't about perfection. We all stumble and fall short. But there should be evidence that the Spirit is at work in us, gradually conforming us to the image of Christ. Our priorities shift. Our values change. Our treatment of others reflects God's love. Today, examine your faith. Is it merely intellectual, or is it changing how you live? Are you becoming more like Jesus in your thoughts, words, and actions? Remember that true faith is dynamic and life-changing, not static or merely theoretical.

In what specific ways has your faith in Christ changed how you live? If someone observed your life for a week, what evidence would they see that your faith is alive and active?

Prayer

Father, I want a faith that is alive and active, not just words or ideas. Show me where my faith needs to be put into action. Help me to live in a way that demonstrates the reality of my relationship with You. May my life increasingly reflect Your character and priorities. In Jesus' name, amen.
