I have an older brother ( not related to him directly ) who has mental issues and is unable to understand any real sense of right or wrong or have any feelings of remorse or compassion for anyone, himself included. He has been a huge challenge to handle from day one. I agree with giving such people like him compassion rather than judgment, but I would not expect it to result in much positives in any. I am just grateful he has not hurt anyone physically and I don’t have to live in his shoes.

I agree. I like the way Paul said it in 1 Cor 5.

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside.

It is true that we are not to judge anyone inside or outside the Church of Christ, but that does not mean that we turn our moral compass OFF!!! I will be straight, pardon the pun coming, but when it comes to sexually immoral people, especially gays and lesbians we do need to stick to the Word and know that those people will NOT inherit the kingdom of God unless they repent of their sinful lifestyles. And for the record, I don't want them in any church which I attend unless, as I said, they are there to repent and to have us as a church community help them overcome their dispicable lifestyle choices. If they won't repent then they should not be in the pews because they are being gigantic hypocrites and I for one, in Christ's name, WILL call them on it every time!!! We must ALWAYS realize that if we are going to follow God's Word, to teach it, preach it and understand it then we WILL come into controversy with such individuals. I am affraid that it is inevitable, but we still have the opportunity to make good from a bad situation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Don't be affraid to stand firm on the Word and continue to reach out in love and understanding.

He who is without sin casts the first stone. Jesus Christ. I am sorry but Jesus said to love your enemies and all sense from you is condemnation. I have know many people who are gays and lesbians and I treat them with kindness as I treat anyone else. I know the Lord loves them and has compassion on them as He does everyone.

The Lord does have compassion on them as He does on ALL sinners myself included. However the Word is clear that those who continue in this type of sinful lifestyle, like ALL other unrepentent sinners, will NOT inherit the kingdom of God. Read Romans chapter one verses 24 to 32. I for one don't doubt what the apostle Paul says here. I am NOT casting stones by the way and did not intend to either.
