I love Stormie OMartain. I read and pray from her book almost daily, The power of the praying wife. Her devotionals are good too

I would like to recommend anything written by Max Lucado. He has a very down to earth way of phrasing things.

Also, Lee Stable, The Case for....., this man was an atheism and a journalist. Started looking for the historical Jesus. Found more than he was looking for. Is now a very stanch follower of the Biblical Christ.

.I lent it to someone and never got it back..The strange thing is the person wasnt married and never read the book. Oh well...

When I was taking a course on Ancient Christianity in college, my teacher recommended the book, Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes: Removing Cultural Blinders to Better Understand the Bible by E. Randolph Richards and Brandon J. O'Brien. I found it a fantastic book. Since Kathilee brought up the subject, I think I'll re-read it. In the class I took, we studied the history and culture of Ancient Christianity. Now when I read the Bible, I can use that knowledge to better understand why things are said a certain way, or done a certain way.

I, myself, love learning the history of Biblical times. Helps me to understand why a scripture was said a certain way. God AMD Jesus used things and phrases that people of the day could relate to.

I think I will look that up, misread!
