How many times have you prayed today? Do you know how to pray? The most beautiful part of becoming a born again Christian is your direct route to talking directly to God. He does answer prayers. Even if you sometimes don't have the words to say, just speak from the heart and He will listen.
This is such an important part of Christian life that most people forget about - talking to God can improve your life in so many ways. He may answer your prayers or maybe even give you answers to question you didn't even know you were asking. The special relationship between you and God is important and you should take part in it every day.

Praying is not a gift nor skill. It’s a conversation with God. I am sure there is some do’s and don’ts in praying, but I don’t really understand the issue about praying. I pray the way I talk. I am after all, having a conversation when I pray so as I would talk respectful to anyone, I pray the same way. My confession, my thanks, my requests, and always God’s will be done above all. So far, my praying has not become an issue.
People give all sorts of opinion on how to pray and the different kinds of prayer. You know, kneel, or don't kneel, close your eyes, do certain percentage of praise, petition, meditation! Well, it's interesting, even helpful information. Trouble is, sometimes we get bogged down because we're focused more on doing it correctly then in simply doing it.
Our best instruction manual is the Bible. For me, it really comes together with Paul's advice, "pray without ceasing".

Compost, you are so right. Some get bogged down in the "do's and don't's" Don't worry about the how!! Worry about the "do".
SNM, I feel it might be a "public talking" issue. Don't think about it, do it!! It is something between you and God, no matter who is around to listen. It's important to ONLY remember that God is listening.
A comic once put it this way:
The Bible is so full of "do's" that if we do the "do's" we don't have to worry about the "don't's"

I think in the past I did and wasn't really sure what to pray for but it comes much more easily as I did learn the important thing is to pray and God will give us the words if we don't have them. Praying out loud in a group is more challenging for me because I get self conscious about what others think..but the Lord is working with me on that issue.
Mostly I pray for others when the Lord just brings a persons name or face to my mind then I know in my heart that I am to pray for that person.
Reading these scripture all in a list do help to inspire me. I agree with you Compost.
And yes the Lords prayer is one of the best prayers.

Praying in the Spirit is a great way to pray when you don't know what to say.
Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
1 Corinthians 14:15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.
1 Cor 14:2 for one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
