BE SOBER AND WATCHFUL
"Awake to sober sense (and your right minds), and sin no more" (1.Cor. 15.34) calls the Apostle to the Corinthians, showing them, that lack of knowledge and soberness are the reasons why there are still transpiring sins and shortcomings among saved children of God. In 2.Tim. 2 and 4 soberness is stressed in regard to the erroneous doctrines of the enemy. How even more vital is this in our time. The nearer the goal we come, the narrower the way becomes; even so narrow, that there is only room for one person, namely Jesus alone, in whom we rest and who dwells in us. The dangers of confusion by the enemy are his attempts to discredit the self-same truths, God wants to highlight, by misrepresenting and distorting them. As the devil already did in Paradise, he mixes in a little truth with his lies, which is particularly seductive. How many children of God have already become confused and been led astray.
Furthermore there is the inclination in our human nature to cling to the gifts and blessings from God, so that He often has to withdraw them from us, to prevent us from losing sight of Him, the giver of all gifts.
The treasures and facts of the perfect redemption remain only kept for us, if we understand that they are solely the manifestations of the indwelling Christ. The basis for our bodily transformation and rapture is the risen Christ, dwelling in us through the Holy Spirit, and we are members of His resurrected body. Any teaching that disputes in any way this undeniable facts and our state of complete dependency on the Lord, stems from the enemy and must firmly rejected.
Our current situation can be compared to the position of Israel, conquering the land of Canaan. It represents our perfect redemption in Christ, that is ours through His death, resurrection and ascension; and even if it still has to be conquered through faith-knowledge and the good fight of faith, it is already in our possession in God's sight. Here applies the word: "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you."

The base of operation of the Israelites was Gilead, which prefigured Calvary, the place where our first creation was eliminated. If the facts of our redemption are not sufficiently manifested in our life, though we appropriated them in joyful faith, this sad phenomenon is mostly put down to the neglect of our watchfulness and soberness, a precondition for the receiving of grace. Only if we are constantly at home at Calvary - where God's grace, that trains us to reject all ungodliness, and the discipline of the Holy Spirit keeps us moment by moment on this foundation - is the Lord able to manifest everything He has purchased for us through His full redemption. This is the strict precondition for the rapture of the firstfruits.
