As today is the first day of Lent I was thinking what special thing will I do ,,, or not do ,,,,for the next 40 days .

What I have decided to do is walk 2 miles per day. By the time spring comes along and that means (bike season) my leg strength and cardio should be at a much better starting place than last year which will be nice .

On these walks Im going to take time and thank god for all that is good in my life.

I will also ask him for help in the areas I need it .

I like this time of year ,,, it makes you stop and think ,,, and sometimes thats a good thing.

I don't celebrate Lent in my church, but I think it is always a good idea to take the time to be with God whatever form it takes. I can't physically walk, but last year for a course, we did a retreat - I fast and prayed for the day, outside by a river. It was a day to really connect with God, without distractions. I hope to do it again in the spring.

I think any time we can take time and spend it with God that is a blessing, for sure.

challenger your idea is impressive.

I have not decided, when very young my gf's and I would give up chocolate. Boy watch out when Lent was over Lol. I am still thinking what I might do.

Is that why chocolate Easter bunnies follow in the wake of Lent? Just curious as my grandmother always gave up meat for Lent. Maybe that is why I became a vegetarian?

Ah yes ,,,, giving up chocolate when I was young was also one of the things I did , Now that Im old and grey and don't eat much chocolate I usually give up beer . I wonder if that bunny would deliver some at the end of all this . Can you write the easter bunny ? I have never seen an address.

I think he lives near Santa Claus, but not sure. In Canada, kids can write Santa at the North Pole and get a reply stamped from the North Pole, Canada, since we own the North Pole, Well, Russia and a few other countries disagree, but magnetic north for sure.

As for bunnies, that is a puzzle. I wonder if Canada Post has an answer to that question?

I did decide to give up candy after devouring two caramel milky ways.
My husband and daughter have ALL this candy, I mean a LOT all different kinds.
I may have to ask them to really hide it for real
There hiding has always proved ludicrous.

I don't do Lent. Self denial is a good concept and very scriptural but I can't fathom where Lent came from I haven't seen it mentioned in the Bible.
Could lead to excesses when Lent finishes I believe!
