Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.
These trials are necessary as painful as they can be for us. The allow us to learn about our selfs and if our hearts are true, make improvements. I am lazy. I don't like to be tested, tried, or challenged, but when it comes to my faith, I welcome such this as they are the blessings that will help me grow stronger in my faith and wiser in my service.
Malachi 3:3 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
The innermost surrender happens between your soul and God, when you in hidden prayer wrestle with the Lord, until you have reached a point where God takes possession of your innermost thinking, wishing, and desire; then the only desire remaining, is to please and obey Him. You are then completely separated from all that is ungodly and totally at His disposal. Human opinions and views of yourself or others won't influence you anymore; your life is then only lived in the will of the Lord.
Some may say you should not pray for hard trials, because you have already enough of that; however, if you have a special request from God, then ask Him to light the fire of trials in your life and you will get the fire, but also receive the blessing. He will allow your soul to endure persecution and opposition, but let it come! Stand fast and say: "God, let the fire burn, I will not be moved!" God wants a people that does not fear the hardest trials; a people that is purified, without spot and tested. God is looking for true martyrs, men and women, who are not afraid to keep being steadfast and willing to bear the reproach of the Gospel. Jesus is preparing you, so that you will be able to rule with Him in glory; for those who love Him, all things work for the best, even hot trials. God wants us to free ourselves from everything and cut off every bond that holds us back. When in your life something comes up that is hard to bear, stand your ground and consecrate yourself deeper. Keep everything on the altar. If you want the best God has for you, be ready to pay the price to obtain it. Jesus suffered before He was glorified, and you must walk the same path that He walked. Unless you suffer with Him, you will never have a glorified body. "Trials have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed."
Gold is put into the melting furnace and with ever increasing heat molten until the melter can see His own image. Jesus lights the fire with you and me until He can look down and see His image.
