Welcome to our church! We are glad you have chosen to join us. Please read the important guidelines for the group first.
Today's message is a bit different than some but, the above Scripture has some wonderful things in it. "For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's".
We often times get wrapped up with the same mindset that society does. This mindset is "mankind is rulers of his own destiny. Another falsehood of society is that we are all the children of God.
We are all in the family of the human race but, we must be "born" into the family of God. We are receive this "birth" when we accept Jesus Christ as our own personal Savior and place our trust in His finished work of Calvary and the only atoning sacrifice for our sins.
This text scripture has many different facets of it but, I will comment on just 3.
I. We are under new ownership:
Notice is says we are "BOUGHT". When someone buys or purchases something, it becomes theirs.
I have worked a different companies prior to my retirement and when our "business" was purchased by a new owner, there were always changes. Some may have been small and some were very noticeable.
II Corinthians. 5 vs 17 says " Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away and behold, all things become new."
a. We should have a new attitude.
b. We should follow the plan of the new owner.
c. We should reflect this new ownership in actions.
II. We have a New Destination:
Today's world if full of new ideas and new seminars on how to increase productivity, profits. etc. Personnel are constantly being trained to do something new, to implement a new approach, etc.
We as Christians today are fortunate because our owner does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He has had a plan, a purpose and a provision for mankind since before Genesis 1 vs 1. His plan is for the salvation of mankind. His plan is for us to go out into this sin sick world and proclaim God's love, for a world that has completely lost the concept of what true love is. This is why He says to Glorify Him in our Body and Spirit!!!! We as Christians should strive to Glory God by letting others see the love of Christ, in us. Matt Chpt. 5 vs 16 "let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works and, Gloriy your Father in Heaven." We are to let our lights shine. Even a small light shines bright in a large darkness. Remember that. We all can not be great orators, great speakers, preachers, evangelists like some are in the world today but, we can shine our light so others can see. The childhood song "This little light of mine" is still relevant and true today.
III. We have a new Home:
We all know that his old body will cease some day but, our spirit lives on. If we are Christians, we are ushered into Heaven by angels when this earthly life ceases. We have the mansion that Jesus told his disciples that he was going to prepare for them. The Apostle Paul looked forward to the day when he would be with Christ. Paul said "I have a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better.............. He knew is was far better than anything that mankind could ever achieve here on this earth. He was convinced of that.
The Apostle John wrote of this new Heavenly Home in Rev. Chpt, 21. He spoke of walls of Jasper, gates of pearl, streets like gold. He then mentions all the precious stones that are in the walls, most of which I can not even pronounce, much less know what they look like. What I do know that if The Lord fashioned it, it's better, greater, and more beautiful than anything I have ever seen or imagined.
Thank God, for being our New Owner. Thank God, we have a New Destination and, Thank God, we have a New Home for all eternity.
This text Scripture says to "Glorify God in our body and in our spirit, WHICH ARE GOD's.
I must admit and confess, that I have not always achieved this in my life but, God knows the goal and intent of my heart, that I strive to achieve these things everyday, even though I know I fall short.
