This Scripture verse is the speaking to those around him about who Jesus is. Today I'd like to share the purpose of The Lamb of God and what He does for us.
I. The Lamb of God came because of Sin:
People for years have tried to do something to fix society of it's ills. They have said education would do it but, even those with numerous degrees still have issues they can not fix. Some say if we clean up the slums, and by doing so, crimes would diminish. I agree that doing these things may help but, you clean up one area and another one starts again. Some say that terrorism is the biggest threat to society. The doomsday people always seem to try and keep people on edge about terrorists taken over. Some people feel if we stopped all the alcohol sales that society would improve. We tried that back in the 20's and to some degree it worked but, crime bosses got rich because there were those who were going to drink anyway and they could set the price wherever they wanted. They capitalized on those who felt they had to drink. Some people feel that War on Drugs is the answer. How long have we fought this War on Drugs? 30 years or so and, we still have drugs running rampant in America.
John said "Behold the Lamb of God". If anything is going to change America, it is people turning to Jesus for help in times of these issues of society.
II. The Lamb of God takes away the Punishment of Sin:
Jesus came into this world for one purpose. It wasn't to heal the sick, cleanse the Leper, raise the dead, make the blind see and the lame walk. It wasn't to turn water into wine or to show a disciple how to walk on water. Jesus came to this world to deal with the Sin problem. He went to the cross, died an agonizing death, rose from the grave to have victory or death, hell and the grave. He took our punishment for us. He took what we deserved. He took what we should have had coming. We should look to Him, praise Him. live for Him and when we do that, these other issues will fall into place. The reason we still are dealing with this in our churches is, we are not dealing with this on an individual basis. People have placed what Christ did as something less than what it was. They do not appreciate what He did. They have not caught a glimpse of the love he had for us. When everything else has failed, love has prevailed.
III. The Lamb of God will take us from the presence of Sin:
One if these days, I personally, I do not feel this day is far off, there will be a shout from Heaven, The Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with the voice of the Arch Angel and the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first then, we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together in the clouds, to meet the lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 7 years shall pass and we shall return. This is when Jesus will set up his earthly reign in Jerusalem. Satan will be bound for a thousand years and life will be tranquil here on earth. Satan will then be loosed one last time and will go about to deceive those who have been born and living during the thousand year reigh and then the nations of the earth shall come against Jerusalem to try and destroy Christ and His rule. They shall be utterly destroyed. Satan, the false prophet and the beast shall be cast into hell for all eternity, and we shall be in the new Jerusalem forever.
I paraphrased a lot of this but, this the meat of what is going to Happen.
The Lamb of God will be triumphant, He will make things right and, He will rule and reign forever, and forever and forever.
Praise God for His promises and His provision when He sent Jesus as The Lamb of God Which taketh away the sins of the world.
