Results of being a Godly Father Psalms 128 vs 1-
OLDBIKER
(1) "Blessed is everyone hat feareth the Lord, that walketh in His ways. (2) For thou shalt eat the labor of thy hands; Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee (3) Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table (4) Behold that thou thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord (5) The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion, and thous shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life (6) Thou shall see thy children's children and peace upon Israel."
I realize that not everyone one had a Godly father. I know from being in this world now for 66 plus years, that I have heard and known of my abuses by fathers to their children and, their wives. This is tragic and a terrible life to endure. My prayers go out to all of you who may have been subjected to this type abuse and treatment.
I was blessed to have a Godly father and was privileged to be raised in a Christian home. We had our ups and downs as a family but, I never saw my dad set down at a table to eat, that he did not pray before eating.
Today's message deals with what a father should be in the home. I will begin with a short intro and go from there.
Father's Day was started by a woman who wished to pay honor to her father, who raised her and her 5 siblings, after the death of her mother in childbirth. Her name was Sonara Smart Dodd. She worked to get all fathers honored and in 1966, Pres; Lyndon Johnson proclaimed Father's Day a National Holiday. It was not totally enacted until 1972.
You can be born a male and have no sayso about it, one way or another. You can also father a child and yet, not be a father.
It takes someone special to be a dad. In our society today, we have a lot of fathers but, few dads. I get a bit upset, when I see young teenage girls with small children but, no dad in the picture. Society seems to be descending into the animal behavior of pro-creation without any responsibility of raising the young. They just go elsewhere and repeat the same behavior and father another child by another woman. Our society is so messed up, it doesn't seem to know what a man is or, what a woman is. This should not be. We are having women surgically made into men and vice versa.
Let me say this. God made man and woman different.
1. Their physical bodies are different
2. Their minds are different
3. Their brains are different
4. They think differently
5. They react to things differently.
Here are some scientific facts just to name a few.
1. A woman's blood contains more water than a man's blood does.
2. A woman has 20% less red blood cells.
3. A woman's DNA is different
4. A woman's emotions are different
On and on I could mention the difference but, I wish to share 3 basic things of the blessings of being a real man and a real father.
A real man has a faithful walk. "Blessed" means being happy regardless of the circumstances. Notice verse 1. "Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord".
People today, mostly men, are killing themselves to find happiness. Happiness is based on perception. Some people are never happy regardless of what they have, what they attain, or the prestige they possess.
When we look at things through Spiritual eyes, we see things differently. Christians have a different outlook on things than non-Christians do. Our happiness is based on Christ. Our joy is based on what Jesus has done for us, with us and through us. Notice the scripture "feareth the Lord". This does not mean to watch for God to hit you with a big hammer when you mess up!!!!!!! It means to show reverence and to give Him Pre-eminence in your life. "Walketh in His ways" means to travel in God's ways in how we think, how we act and, what we say. Are we walking Biblically the way a Christian should walk? Here are the 3 results of being a Godly Father.
1. You will be Blessed: Vs-2
A. We are to be Providers:
a. emotional
b. Security
c. Welfare
d. Peace in home
Giving of "Things" does not get it done.
Many churches are in trouble today because the man has not been the Spiritual Leader in the home. Spiritual Leadership in the home reflects Spiritual Leadership in the Church.
II. You wife will be Blessed:
Notice in verse 3 wives are referred to as "fruitful vines". Grapevines are symbols of prosperity in Jewish Society.
Point: Vines are tender and easily damaged.
a. They need to be supported
b. They need to be taken care of.
A vine needs a wall or a means of support--something to cling to. Guess who that wall is? Us Men!!!!!!!
The greatest thing you can do for your children, is to love their mother, support her and give yourself to her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.
Let's look at this vine for a minute.
1. By the sides of the house.
a. Not underfoot to be trampled.
b. Not on the rooftop to be domineering.
Question? From where was woman made? From the side of Adam and there she should remain!!!!!!!!
She clings to her wall. She is fruitful--children, good advice, good management of the home, wisdom.
III. The Children will be blessed" vs-3 "olive plants".
In the Holy Land, if you possessed a Olive grove, you had something of value. They can provide money and food for many many generations.
What does this all mean? What is all this referring to?
You, as a dad, a father, hand down things to your sons and daughters. Your life, your ideals, your faith and your heritage for many generations. My dad has been in Heaven since 1979 and my grandfather since 1917, yet I think of them. I remember my dad, how he raised me, how he taught me, his mannerisms, his prayers, and his never changing faith in God and his love for Jesus Christ, his Savior.
Your greatest work is not massing fortunes, houses, and lands, Your greatest work will be the heritage you leave with your loved ones, your children and grandchildren. The life you lived, the faith you had and the value of God's word that ruled your life and them knowing that same faith in Christ can change their lives and the lives of others for all Eternity!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Father's Day and may we all strive to be a Godly Father to our families.

if the model of both these relationships is not as it should be (not perfectly because we aren't perfect but as close as we can achieve) in the home then children grow up at a loss to even be able to relate to God in the way they need to and their relationship with Him is hampered.
Moms are really important but Dads are vital to this being able to relate better to God.
to all those out there who are true Dads, Happy Father's Day!
