Rememberance From a Rooster Luke 22: 31-32 and 60-
OLDBIKER
Vs 31 "And the Lord said Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat.
vs 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not and when thou are converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Vs 60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest and immediately while he yet spake, the cock crew.
Vs 61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter, And Peter remembered the word of the Lord when He had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
This Scripture today relates to the Denial of Christ, by Peter, His Apostle. If we take a good look at Peter, we can see ourselves in somewhat the same way.
A, Slow to think
B. Fast to speak.
We can see our failures and our faults just as Peter had.
A. Christ told His disciples that he was going to die vs 15
B. He had said that one of them, would betray Him vs 21
C. He had told Peter that Satan would attack him, vs-31
What changed this scared, stressed Apostle into a powerful Preacher and Leader?
I would like to share 3 things with you to consider:
I. The prayer that Jesus Prayed for Peter vs 31
Jesus knew all about Satan and temptation.
Jesus knew about the power of Satan in temptation.
It is good to know that Jesus was concerned about Peter, notice what Jesus told him, "Satan has desired to have thee that he may sift you as wheat".vs-30
Satan has changed his tactics much concerning temptation. Why not? Because they still work!!!!!!!!!!!!
Satan still wants to target and temp every Christian today to destroy their testimony, their witness, steal their joy yet, Jesus still intercedes for us today, just as He did for Peter.
Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore He is able also to save them from the uttermost that come to God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Jesus also prayed for all believers present in His day and for us yet in the future. John 17 vs 20
Peter lost the battle of the flesh but, not the battle of his faith. His faith held. Notice Jesus said for him to strengthen the others when this trial was over. He became the main preacher on the Day of Pentecost. (acts Chpt. 2) Great salvation message here. Read it.
II. The percise time--vs 60
A. This roosters crowing was not by accident. It was prophesied in vs 34.
Stop and think a minute about a Rooster( A dumb chicken)
1. He gets up early and goes about doing what he was created to do.
2, He does what he does with out praise or payment.
a. He often gets badmouthed for doing what God created him to do.
3. He wakes up the sleepers and dozers
4. He proclaims "It's a new day" every day.
5. He never seems to get bored doing the same thing every day.
Point: God uses simple things of nature to show us his plan and purpose.
He used a rooster to bring Peter to repentance.
A. It reminded Peter what he had said to Jesus
B,.It reminded Peter what Jesus had said to him.
III> The Lord's Look: vs-61
Jesus never said a word, He just turned and looked at Peter. Even when everything was going wrong for the Lord, He was still concerned for Peter.
No matter how messed up things are in our lives, Jesus is still concerned about us.
Question: What do you think Jesus was thinking about, when He looked at Peter?
A. Was it a look of anger and disgust?
B. Was it a look of pity?
C, Was it a look of Grief?
D. Was it a look of rebuke?
We really don't know but, whatever or whichever it was, it broke Peter's heart and caused him to walk out and weep bitterly.
Point: Jesus met Peter where he was, like he was, and brought him to where He wanted him to be.
He will do the same for you and I. Christ's love for Peter drew him back and made him stronger than ever.
Sometimes the rooster has to crow in our lives to get us to wake up and get right with Jesus too.
Have you ever denied Jesus?
a. in thought
b, in act
c. in what you have said
Last question: If Jesus looked at you today, what would He see?
Jesus knows, you know and Satan knows.
May God bless and use this message.

i think if/when Jesus looks at me He does/would see someone who is weak and can't do anything except hold onto His strength.
