Rememberance and Sacrifice Luke 8:35
OLDBIKER
On Memorial Day, we thing primarily of these two words. As true Americans, we remember that as a people of America, the freedoms we enjoy, the life that we have as a free people, came as a result of a sacrifice of others. A nation who lives because someone died for it.
If we look at this from a personal level, all of us can probably remember the death of a father, grandfather, brother, sister, nephew uncle or someone we knew, who died because of a war or a conflict, as some choose to call it.
Most of us till feel that we can still work, make a living, get married, set up a home and live without fear because of their sacrifices.
Every Sunday as Christians, it is a day of remembrance for us.
There are reasons for remembrance for each of us and I am sure there are many others that I will not mention but here are 4 that I wish to comment on.
The Law of Life:
Many thousands upon thousands live today because of a sacrifice of a few. It's ironic but, if we look at the past, we can see that one man's decision can plunge a world or a nation into war. One man's foolishness can ruin thousands of lives and, one man's sacrifice can save thousands of lives. This seems to be a law of the life of mankind.
The Regression of Modern Life:
Today, we seldom see one person who will take a chance and put their lives on the line for someone else outside of our military, public servants such as Firefighters, Police and some brave EMT personnel. It seems we are regressing back to the old mind set of " I don't want to get involved". The faction of modern society is this.
A. Look out for #1
B. Every man for himself and let the devil have the rest.
C. I 'm just going to take care of me and mine.
There is also the old saying that "I got mine, let them get theirs". People get the mindset that what I think is always right and what gives or brings me advantage in my life is right. People don't stop to care about anyone else because their actions and attitudes show where their heart really is. If we aren't careful, we can get the "I could care less attitude". Self Seeking always leads to Self Destruction.
Some may agree with this and some may not. That is your right but, look at Wall Street, look at the Investment Companies, everything came apart because man was filled with greed and care nothing about anyone but, themselves.
It's been proven by experience:
Finding life by losing it may not be easily accepted but stop and think for a moment.
How man of us have set out to find pleasure and happiness by ourselves, for ourselves by self indulgence, by running here and there getting stressed, worried etc. and at the end of it all, we just wasted days, weeks, months and possibly years and wound up still being unsatisfied? Flip the coin now and look at the other side. What about some other time whey you weren't really looking for self satisfaction, weren't expecting it to come along and WHAM, it came to us in a time when we had forgot about ourselves and were doing something for someone else!!!!!!!!
A person who spends their time trying to help and bless others are the ones who relly find true happiness, satisfaction and joy in life.
Remember the Cross:
Every time you see a cross, you should remember that it is the symbol that Christianity is real and that true live came through death. Jesus died on a cross. The loving one died there for the unloved and the loveless, the just for the unjust, the sinless one for all the sins of mankind, past, present, and future.
Remembrance and Sacrifice
Remembrance of those who died in all the Wars of this nation that we might have the freedoms that we have today to enjoy and the peace to live in the United States.
Remembrance of Him who give His life for ALL of mankind.
Sacrifice of those who gave their lives for this country, that we can live in this great nation called America and for our children and grandchildren to have that priviledge.
Sacrifice of Jesus who purchased us and, gave us an inheritance, that nothing can destroy.
Thank God for His Plan, His provision , His Purpose for His Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus for us and Thank God for those who have gave of their time, talent, blood, sweat, tears and the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for us as citizens of this great nation. God Bless America.

And it is sad that we have a Presisdent when they were raising our flag, he did not put his hand over his heart. Later he was asked why. He said that the flag offended some people. That may be true, but did he forget the red in the flag stood for the blood shed so that he could live in a free country and be elected president. My own personal opinion,.

I agree with mtnneer. It is sad what is happening in America today. USA is going down a slippery slope of depravity. Our president is misleading America. He does not honor flag or God. Will be glad when his term ends. God forbid a reelection, I pray Americans wake up!But we got to keep our eyes on Jesus the finisher & perfecter of our faith. I appreciate Memorial Day's commeroration of all those who served and gave their lives so we might live in freedom. Three of my 4 grown kids served in the military and I am proud of them.
