"Righteousness exalteth a Nation but sin is a reproach to any people"
We are nearing the Fourth of July, when our Nation celebrates our independence. Our Nation was founded on God and Godly principles but oh, how far we have regressed, just in my lifetime.
I saw a piece this week on CNN where they took out "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. This sickened me and to be quite honest, it made me mad.
Our nation, the past 50 years has been so anti-God, it is shocking!!!!!
There are three things I wish to share with you about this Nation we call Our United States.
I. America's Independence: Vs-14
"Righteousness exalteth a Nation"
A. Exalts means "raises to honor or "to lift up"
Question: How do we become righteous?
We sure are not born that way. The Bible says that we are all sinners. That we do not seek after God. We are only made righteous through Christ!!!!!!!
Our Nation was founded by Godly people on Plymouth Rock in 1620. The believed in the Eternal God for leadership and guidance. They formed what is known now as the Mayflower Pact. Here is what it said.
"In the name of God Amen. Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and for the advancement of the Christian faith, do solemnly and mutually , in the presence of God, covenant and combine ourselves together".
These people realized that God was supreme over man and government, even though they themselves knew they were not perfect. At the signing of the Declaration of Independence, 56 members of this delegation all bowed on their knees and prayed for God's wisdom. Few people realize that this Declaration of Independence was actually a Declaration of war against the British and many of those who signed this document was killed, beaten, imprisoned and many of them died pennyless.
Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if our Congress and our Supreme Court would get on their knees and ask God for guidance and wisdom for our country instead of the stupid games, politics and the Godless laws they mandate to America's citizens today.
II: America's Indifference to God Today: ( "But sin is a reproach to any people")
Did you know that we didn't have a "Pledge of Allegiance" until `1890? A man by the name of Francis Bellamy
wrote it as a work for a classroom study. President Harrison proclaimed it first on Oct. 12th 1892.as a Columbus Day Celebration in the public schools. Here is what it said. I pledge allegiance to my flag, and to the republic for which it stands. one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all".
The words "my flag" were changed to "the flag of the United States of America" by an amendment on flag day June 14th, 1924. In 1954, the congress amended the pledge again and added "Under God". President Eisenhower signed this document and said "this shows the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and her future".
Within less than 10 years, there were those who began to do anything and everything they could to remove anything about God from our nation's heritage.
In 1962, they took the Bible out of school libraries, in 1963, they took prayer out of school functions, in 1965, they took the 10 commandments off of school walls, in 1973, they passed abortion rights to kill unborn babies and a million babies die each year because of it.
A few years ago, I read where some students were asked to write a term paper on "the man I admire the most. Some wrote of Presidents, dignitaries, family members, heads of state, etc., but, one Christian girl wrote her term paper on the Life of Jesus Christ. The teacher gave her and F and the reason she gave was that her subject was unacceptable in the public school system". Her parents filed a lawsuit against the school and the teacher but, the courts ruled in favor of the teacher and the school!!!!!!!!
Back years ago, the divorce rate was 1 in about 6 marriages. Now it is one of every 2. I have done many weddings in 35 years of ministry and over half of the couples are divorced. Years ago in the 60's, a single mother who was the sole provider for her family was 1 out of 10 households. Now it is 1 of every 5.
Here are some shocking Gallup polls that are hard to comprehend.
1. Teens between the ages of 12 and 18 are involved in some manner of prostitution, to support drug use and this amount of teens will fill the Super Bowl. the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl stadiums.
2. 60% of professing Christian students aged 12 to 18 are sexually active.
3. Child abuse is up 240% since 1976
4. Corruption and conviction of public officials and politicians are up 450% since 1973.
5. Sexual abuse of children is up 1,375% since 1962.
III. How do we change things and reclaim what we once had?
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for his Inheritance"
This nation is blessed because God is real, not fictional, or man made. God's laws are good for the morality
of the country. God's protection will be provided. Worship of God promotes moral living, truth, peace of mind.
Ask yourself this question. How many wars have we won since World War 2? NONE!!!!!
We did not win in Korea, we did not win in Vietnam, we did not win in Desert Storm, we have not won in Afghanistan and we have not won in Iraq. We are still fighting both of these as well as now in Lybia.
Should we not take a look as to why we are not being blessed like we were? I think we should. Godless politicians do not have the answer.
How to we regain the blessings of God"?
A. We begin one at a time by committing our lives to Christ.
B. We take a stand and quit setting on the fence. Call sin for what it is and what it does.
C. Pray for our Nation
D. Before you vote, check out what the candidate stands for, his/her beliefs, their moral stand whether it be President, Senator. Representative. Governor or Mayor.
If every Christian would do these things, we would begin to see a change in our cities, our counties, our states and our Federal Govt. offices.
Churches need to get back preaching the truth "Thus sayeth the Lord", instead of preaching some weakened down sermonette to a bunch of Christianettes.
I want my church to be a lighthouse to the community where it exists.
a. Where a bad man can be made good.
b. Where a good man can be made better
c. Where an ignorant man can be made wise
d. Where a poor man has a chance
e. Where a dead man can be made alive in Christ Jesus.
This message mainly focused on our nation but, our nation is made up of people and people have souls and believe it or not, God is interested in souls. This is why I preach salvation to these people, that their souls might be saved, that they might have the abundant physical life and the gift of Eternal Life.
America is in sad shape. she is sin sick but, she is still the greatest nation on earth. May we all pray and do our part so God will Bless America , Again.

however, government has flipped that around to mean the exact opposite and our freedoms of religion are in peril! i remember much of what Pee Wee has put up here. i was in school when we no longer had prayer.
the difference just in the schools then and now is staggering! we walked into our schools back then without too much care except if Mrs. so in so would give us a pop quiz. Now the kids walk through metal detectors to make sure they aren't carrying weapons! the killings in the school are something we never dreamed could happen. the worst that might happen in that way was if the playground bully picked a fight with us and slapped us around. now bullying is one of the causes of suicide among teens! bullying has taken a huge step to become lethal and the violence just in our schools reflects the violence in our streets. no longer is the school a safe place for children. why? i believe it is a direct result of taking prayer out of school.
my daughter and i went to 'meet you at the pole' and there outside around the flag pole students and teachers and parents alike would join hands and pray. i wonder if that is still going on today of if they have abolished that too.
great message and a good wake-up call for us to act now to save what little freedoms we have left before they are all gone!
