4 Things we need at Christmas:
Psalms 72: 17-19
This Scripture is a Prophecy of the Coming of Jesus and His Glory forever.
People have different ways of celebrating Christmas. For a few weeks a years, we are surrounded by bells, flashing lights, Christmas Trees, decorations galore and Christmas music fills the airwaves and in many stores we shop at, during this time. It's easy to get caught up in the things we want to get others but, we need to have these 4 tings ourselves to truly enjoy and know the meaning of Christmas.
We need the Spirit of Joy. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angels said "behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy". Joy is not an abundance of material things, financial security, physical soundness or educational achievement. Joy comes from an individuals relationship with Jesus. This brings us an inward joy to know that He is ours and we are His.
We also need an Understanding Heart. A heart that feels like God's does. A heart that has compassion like God does. A heart that shows love and concern for others.
We need the Spirit of a young Child. Jesus came to mankind as a child. Jesus loved little children and often blessed them and if you remember, he rebuked his disciples for trying to send them away for His presence. Jesus said we are to become as little children to inherit the Kingdom of God.
We need to have the Spirit of Giving. Jesus came that He might give. He is the author of Giving. God gave us His son and Jesus gave his life for us and also gives us Eternal Life when we trust Him as our Personal Saviour.
Trues Christians should have these 4 things that are noticeable and are a part of our lives each day and not only at Christmas time.
May we each have The Spirit of Joy, an Understanding Heart, the Spirit of a Child and a Spirit of Giving.
If we have these things evident in our lives, Christmas has the True Meaning.
Thing about these 4 things as Christmas approaches.

one Christmas when my children were small, my oldest was about 8, there was a family who had several children living in a shack. i decided i would get gifts and put together a box of canned goods for them, including a can ham they could have for Christmas. i wanted my kids to become involved with this. so i told them about these kids and my plan to go to the dollar store where we could get gifts for these kids, i didn't have a lot of money myself at the time but i wanted these kids to have something.
my son the oldest looked up at me and asked me if they could give these kids some of their gifts under the tree. it took me just a moment and i said yes with misty eyes. my kids went diving under that tree to look for their names on gifts.
(This is when i really started crying!) they weren't going after the little gifts they were looking at the biggest things under the tree to give to these kids, they wanted to give them the biggest and best they had! that is a Christmas i will never forget. i still cry when i think of the spirit of love that children have for others and how humbling it can be as we adults watch and learn from them.
