God's Sentury--On Watch Ezekiel Chpt. 3 vs 1
OLDBIKER
The Text Scripture says this:
"Son of Man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: thereforem hear the word at my mouth and give them warning from me".
In our modern world today, we as Americans can sleep relatively well, knowing that there are those who are "on watch" keeping us safe throughout the world today.
In this scripture, Ezekiel was set or "chosen" of God, to be the watchdog over the children of Israel who had been taken captive by the Babylonians. He was to keep them spiritually strong, even in the midst of the foreign gods of this land that they were captives in.
Just as Ezekiel was a watchman tell the Israelites their wrongs and to keep them focused on God, we, as Christians and followers of Christ, are to warn others of the dangers of unbelief.
When Jesus was perparing to ascend back to His Father, He told his disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. In other words, warn the lost of their condition and lead others to Christ. We as Christians today, are to continue and carry out this great commission that Christ gave His disciples.
Here are 3 things that we as Christians ( modern watchmen) are to do.
I. We are to watch:
A. We must see ourselves as Saved people,
I have never seen very many successful soul winners who were not sure they were saved, themselves.
How can we convince someone else of salvation through Christ, if we ourselves do not know we are saved?
B. We must see ourselves as servants. Jesus, Himself, was the greatest example of a servant. Look at all the things he did. He healed, He blessed, He taught, and He even showed his humility when he girded Himself and washed His disciples feet.
C. We must see the condition of lost people
It is a shame today but, few Christians are really concerned about lost people. If we knew the true horrors of hell, we would be more diligent about telling others about Christ and His salvation. Pastors today no longer go out and invite people to church. Many churches today are like businesses or stores. If you come in, we will tell you what we have to offer but, it is up to you to decide if come to "our place of business". This ought not to be.
II, A watchman is to listen:
A, We must listen to what the Bible teaches. It says for us, as Christians, to go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in. Christians are saved to serve. We are not saved to sit. To repeat and old saying , "Christianity is not a spectator Sport". It takes prayer, it takes putting feet to our prayers.
B, We must listen for the Holy Spirit to speak to us. Many times, the Holy Spirit has spoke to me, to go talk to someone about Christ. When I went to that person, they have told me that they have been wanting someone to come talk to them. Even Christians have told me that they have been praying for the Lord to send someone to them that would explain a situation or pray with them about a certain issue in their lives. Often times, if we, as Christians, aren't careful, we get to wrapped up in our own little world and we don't concentrate on the needs of others.
III. The Watchman is to Speak:
A watchman who just watches and does not warn, is not much of a watchman. There is a difference between warning someone and being judgmental of someone.
When I go talk to someone about their spiritual condition, I do not come at them with the "repent or go to hell" type attitude that I have seen some people use on lost people. I listen to the people, listen what backgrounds they have, where they come from. What their spiritual background is, if they have any. I ask them what their feelings are about God, life, Eternity, Heaven and Hell. People have to accept you before you can get them to accept Christ.
We can know all 66 books of the Bible. We can quote scripture after Scripture. We can know all the kings of Israel. We can know all about Heaven, Hell and, Eternity but, if we do not tell people about Jesus, His love for the lost man, His plan and provision and His pardon and promises for sinful man, what does it profit? It's a shame to say but, I have known men who are great Bible scholars, they know the scriptures. They are good moral, upstanding people and Elders in their local church but, they have NEVER, led anyone to Christ and many DO NOT KNOW HOW!!!!!! This is a terrible tragedy folks. Other than self edification, what has all their learning accomplished or what benefit is it to anyone other than themselves?
So, I ask these questions in closing. Are you a Watchman at His post? Are you fulfilling your duty as a watchman? Maybe your answer would be, where is my post? My answer would be, wherever you are!!!!
a. Your job
b. At school
c. In business
I had a preacher friend of mine, lead a man to the Lord in the aisle of a grocery store. I have led people to Christ, setting in a coffee shop, drinking coffee. The Holy Spirit is not contained behind church bldg. walls. He is with us and active through us, wherever we are.
The main goal amd focus of every Christian should be, to win others to Christ. Be a soul winner and watch the blessing of God do a work in you, in your church and in your community.
Thank God for Spiritual Watchmen and thank God for our men and women, who are in themselves, watchmen over the freedoms and the liberties we have in this great nation we call America.
Have a blessed week.

THIS IS REALLY GOOD. WE DO NEED TO BE WINNING SOULS TO CHRIST, YOU ALREADY KNOW I AM LIMITED AND IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR ME AS TO HOW I CAN WIN PEOPLE TO CHRIST, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE KNOWN MY LANDLORD FOR ALMOST 20 YRS NOW AND I HAVE TRIED WITH HIM BUT HE JUST SAYS HE BELIEVES IN CHRIST AND JUST BLOWS ANYTHING ELSE I SAY OFF. I REALLY NEED TO BE DOING THIS MORE WITH PEOPLE. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT MESSAGE THAT WE ALL NEED TO READ AND START DOING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS.
GOD BLESS AND HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK.
