Behold Your King!!!! John 19:13-19 text verse 1
OLDBIKER
If you remember, Jesus was first introduced, by John the Baptist, in John 1:29.
'The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him and saith, Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world". The last introduction was by Pilate in our text verse--"and it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he (Pilate) saith unto the Jews "Behold your King".
Later in chapte 19, verse 19 "And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, "JESUS of NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS". He wrote it in Greek, Latin, and in Hebrew. Greek was the language of culture and of science, Latin was the language of the law and Government and Hebrew was the language of the Law and of the Prophets. Little did Pilate know that his Title was absolutely true in all areas. Jesus is the King of all things including culture, science, Government and of the Jewish religion and Law.
Today, I wish to share some things about how we can look at Jesus using the phrase "Behold Your King".
I. Behold your King" in the manger:
The Prophecy of Jesus being born of a virgin was a fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6
A. Isaiah 7:14 says" Therefore, the Lord shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive a son and shall call His name Immanuel."
B. Isaiah 9:6 " For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Remember the Wise Men came to and asked "Where is this one who is born King of the Jews, for we have seen His star, in the East and have come to worship Him?" Matt. 2:2
The Angels proclaimed His birth to the shepherds on the hillside. Luke 2: 11 " For unto you is born this day, in the city if David, a Savior which is Christ The Lord."
II."Behold Your King--in the crowds:
Many times, Jesus saw crowds and multitudes of people. He was moved with compassion towards them because He saw them as sheep wandering endlessly about, as a sheep herd with no shepherd. Matt. 9: 36.
The foreign Kings of the Bible had little compassion on their subjects especially those who were slaves or prisoners. Jesus saw the Jews and He had compassion on them. He care for people of all races and origins. He saw their human needs, their weaknesses and their sorrow. Jesus does the same today. He sees us, He seeks us and He saves us. That's 3 more points to a good message.
III. "Behold Your King" as a Teacher:
No-one taught like Jesus did. Even the Officers who were sent to arrest Jesus said in John 7:46 " Never man spake as this man"!
Matt. 7: 29 says "For He taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes"!
He taught to lead man to the truth of God and the Purpose of God. Jesus revealed man's duty toward God. He taught about relation ships of man to man, parent and child, husband to wives and workers and employers.
IV. "Behold Your King" on the Cross of Calvary:
A. Here we see the actual Plan of God
B. Here we see the actual Purpose of God
C, Here we see the actual Provision of God
Here we see the Christ's central goal of His life that He has shared with His disciples, time and time again.
Mark 10:45 says "For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give His life as a ransom for many"!!!!!!! Jesus also said "Now my soul is troubled and, what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I to this hour". John 12: 27. In other words, Jesus was saying that this is the very reason I came to this time and place, to give my life as a sacrifice for the sin of mankind.
On the Cross Sin is disclosed, the justice of God is revealed, the Love of God is demonstrated towards mankind, and our sin debt was PAID IN FULL!!!!!!
This is Gods Plan, Purpose, and Provision for the saving of a lost and sinful human race. He has no other plan.
Here are three Scriptures that you can look up that explains this fully. I didn't list them due to length of this message.
a. I Corinthians Chpt. 15 verse 3
b. II Corinthians Chpt. 5 verse 21
c. I Peter 1: verses 18 and 19
Jesus went through the mockery, the beatings, being spit upon, laughed at, thorns placed on His head, and finally crucified with 2 criminals, that we, as sinful as we are, can have forgiveness, His Pardon, and Heaven as our Eternal home. No other religion, no other religious leader, sacrificed himself or promised Eternal Life except Jesus.
For this cause and For this statement,. Jesus said, "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE, NO MAN, COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT, BY ME. John Chpr. 14 verse 6.
God had a plan for mankind.
God had a purpose
God had a provision
God has a place
God has a promise
God has a pardon but, you must accept it!!!!!!!!!!!
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great Salvation. Hebrews 2 verse 3.
May this message remind you of the sacrifice and the wonderful provision that Jesus purchased for you and for me. What a wonderful time the Easter Season is.

13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.
“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.
15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”
“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.
“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.
16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion of Jesus
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
