The Apostle Paul wrote these words..."Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin but. alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord".
When a person beciomes a Christian, his/her life changes. We see things fron a different perspective and we react differently to things around us.
Today, I would like to share with you 3 things that are new, in a Christian's life.
I. A New Death: Rom. 6: 1-7
Often times we ask ourselves, what is this "death" we are referring to.
It is the death of the old man, who was a slave and bondservant of satan. When Jesus died on the Cross, He paid our sin debt, When we accept Christ as Savior, by putting our trust in Him for salvation, the old man dies and we begin a new life in Christ Jesus. Does this mean we will live sinless and perfect? Absolutely not. We as Christians are not sinless but we should sin less. Our sins are cleansed through the blood of Christ and it is a continual cleansing, an eternal cleaning because He is Eternal. The Cross erased the penalty and the power of sin, for the believer.
II. A New Life: Rom. 6 vs-8-11
Notice the verse which says "we shall live with Him." So many people feel that they can not live the Christian life or, they see someone who does not grow in their Christian life. They look at these Christians and judge all Christians in the same boat. Until we realize what Christ truly did for us on Calvary, what we have been set free from, we can not truly live the Christian life in victory and in assurance. For eons of time, man had tried to deal with sin. The Cross was God's way of dealing with Sin----FOREVER. By our faith in Christ's FINISHED work, is where the power over sin comes from. Religions says keep trying. Faith says, keep trusting. If man could redeem himself, if man could somehow cleanse himself from sin, Jesus would have never had to got through the torture, the beatings, and the suffering that he endured on the cross, for you and for me. This is why Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the LIfe. no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14 vs-6)
III. We have a New Master: (Rom 6: vs 12-14)
Jesus becomes out new Master. He becomes out teacher. He becomes our shepherd.
We, as Christians, should strive to serve our new master with joy and thanksgiving, for what He has done for us. He has redeemed us, has saved us, has promises of assurance that we are His. We have fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit and, one day, we shall see Him, face to face. We are not longer the servants of sin and satan but, we are the sheep of The Shepherd and servants of The Savior.
It would be nice, if when we are saved, we would always be perfect, never be tempted, never sin and always go about doing good but, we don't. God knew mankind can not, could not and would not save himself. Man, apart from Christ is the servant of satan and sin because, that is all he knows.
I have talked to aetheists and agnostics and they say they do not believe in God or that they aren't sure He exists. I tell them this. I would rather live my life as a Christian then, die and find out there was nothing true about Christianity, than I would to life like they do, die then, find out it was all true.
The Christian life is still the best life to live. I lived the other life for 29 years but, now, for the past 39 years, I have lived for Christ and, life is far better, far richer and far more enjoyable, knowing that I have One who loves me, who accepted me when I called on Him and who has cleansed me and called me to tell others about His love, grace and salvation.
Have a great week and remember "Jesus IS the answer"!!!!!!!
