A Christians' Duty Romans 15 vs-1
OLDBIKER
The Text Scripture says this:
"We then, that are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves"
We as Christians know, that there are strong Christians and there are those who are less strong. Some Christians are faithful to every service, every need of the church and are sensitive to the needs of others. There are those that you can count on, no matter what the task, they will either do it or work with others to get it done.
One the other side of the coin are those who attend occasionally, they seldom get involved in any of the church activities or its needs. So, with that being said, I'd like to share with you some things that we as mature Christians should do, as part of our duty, as a Christian.
I. We need to BUILD UP:
We as Christians need to be building up others instead of tearing them down. Many times in the scriptures, we see the words EDIFY. We are to teach by not only word but, by deed. Let others see Christ in us, not just at Church but, the other 6 days a week as well. When someone does something for someone or for the church, we should commend them and thank them for their act of kindness. God wants us to be BUILDERS of the Church, not wreckers!!!!!
II. We need to LOOK UP:
If we keep our minds focused on people and their mistakes, we will have a tendency to get down and get frustrated. Remember the story about Peter walking on the water towards Jesus. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he was fine. When he took his eyes off of Jesus, looked at the things around him, primarily the wind and the waves, he started to sink. If we look up to Jesus, stay focused on Him, we will stay on the way He has told us to walk. Footnote; Jesus tolerates you, should you not tolerate others?
III. We need to SPEAK UP:
The world today has convinced most Christians that they are to be sheepish little lambs and run every time someone says "BOO". Listen, Christians have been silent too long. We have congressmen in Washington who are Godless because the Christians didn't know what they stood for before they voted for them. We have laws passed because the church has remained silent too long. No prayer in schools, no Bible in schools, no nativity scenes on Public property, no 10 commandments on the court room walls, no Bacculaurette services held in schools anymore. Roe vs Wade. Our leaders have tried to take God out of everything and off of everything. Now they are telling some public speakers that you can not end a prayer with these words 'In Jesus Name".
IV. We need to STAND UP:
I have already commented about speaking up which ties with this as well but, we as brothers and sisters in Christ must "Stand Up" for each other and with each other. We get so focused on Mega Churches and all the "Big Money" churches on TV. These are fine in their place but, what about all the other churches throughout this great nation. What about the small country churches that still strive to keep their doors open and still teach "thus saith the Lord". One little church not far from where I live, has 3 attendees and the Pastor but, they still have church. I commend them!!!!!!
V. We need to GROW UP:
The problem with Christianity today is, that those that call themselves Christians are very child-like in their knowledge of the scriptures. They do not read their Bibles, many do not even carry one with them to church.
Peter said. "Desire the sincere milk of the word that ye might GROW thereby." I Peter 2 vs 20. Problem is, we still have milk fed Christians who have been Christians for 10 to 20 years. This scripture refers to "as newborn babes". You should not be a "baby Christian' if you have been saved for 10 to 20 years. If you are,
you are seriously malnourished. One of the reasons for this are Pablim preachers. When you have too many babies running around, you soon have troubles, quarrels and the next thing you know, it is a mess.
Is it any wonder that the people of the world look at these things and say "I don't need any of that"!!!!!!!
This may sound like a harsh message but, I do not intend it to be so. I meant it to be a "stirring message" as Peter wrote in 2 Peter 1 vs-13 "to stir you up by putting you to remembrance".
We as Christians need to BUILD UP< LOOK UP>SPEAK UP>STAND UP and GROW UP!!!!!!
Have a great week.
