7 things a Mother should tell her children Mark 5
OLDBIKER
In the Text today, Jesus has just told the man, referred to as "The Demon of Gadara" to go home and tell his friends how great things the Lord has done for him.
For this message and it's purpose for Mother's Day., I would like to mention some things that Mother's should tell their children. I say this because, when our kids are small, mom spends the most time with them. Dad is busy making a living and doing the manly things round the home however, I do not, by any means, mean that a father should fail to be the spiritual leader in the home.
I. Tell the about the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem:
Many times, we only seem to want to tell this story at Christmas time. Jesus birth should be told to our kids when they are small so they have a foundation to build on as the grow.
2. Tell about how Jesus came into the world.:
How he was born in Bethlehem, how the angels sang, how the shepherds were joyful to hear of His birth and how they went to see him and to worship Him.
Tell them of his virgin birth:
As your kids get older, explain to them how a child is born into this world. Do not leave this up to a teacher, the boys in the locker room or, in recess or P. E. Who knows better about how a woman carries a child, than she does.
3. Tell about how Jesus grew from a child to an adult:
How they will grow too. I realize that until they understand and can communicate, this may be difficult but, as they begin to grow, tell them about the stages of growth and how they will grow physically and also, how they will grow in wisdom, how their understanding will increase, as they grow physically and mentally.
4. Tell about Jesus being their best Friend:
He can and will be their Savior in life, love and eternity.
Help them to realize that friends here in life will come and go through life but, Jesus will be with them through all things, good times, happy times, sad times, and bad times. He will never turn His back on them and will be the best friend that they will ever have in this life.
5. Tell them that going to church is right:
Jesus was taken to the synagogue ( Jewish house of worship), by His parents. Instill in your child that Jesus instituted the church, how He loves the church and how by going to church, they can learn more about Him, about His human side using children as examples for Heaven, how He blessed them. All these things, kids can, and will learn, in church. It will surprise you how much they will learn and, how much they will retain.
6. Tell about how Jesus went about doing good. Healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, and walking on the water. How He raised a little girl from the dead. How He fed 5000 thousand from a little boy's lunch sack.
7. Tell them about Jesus' love:
How he loved them so much, that He died on a cross so that they might have eternal life in Heaven some day.
Tell them the difference of Heaven and Hell. Why there is a Heaven and a Hell. About Sin and it's penalty.
This may not be a typical Mother's Day sermon but, Mothers, it is something that you have an opportunity to teach your kids, from a very young age. If you will do these things, then truly as King Lemuel said in Proverbs Chpt 31vs-28 "Her children rise up and calleth her blessed, her husband also and, he praiseth her.
You see Mom's, the reason our society has gone down the tubes like it has been gradually doing for the past 40 or so, is because we and I said "we" as parents, have not taken the time to teach our kids about these things, when they were small, in the home. Our neglect to do so, has affected out lives more than we sometimes realize.
Remember this, our core values, beliefs and morals, are usually formed and rooted from what we have been taught as children in the home. Mothers play an intricate and a very important key in these teachings.
A mother has so much influence on her children. Don't think so, watch a pro football game, where a 290 lb. linebacker is setting on the bench and the camera pans by him. What do these men say, 95% of the time?
"Hi Professor", Hi girlfriend" or "Hi Uncle Fred". Absolutely not, they say "HI MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank God for Godly mothers, their sacrifices, their love, their patience and their teachings concerning life, love and, the Lord.
Have a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day Moms. God Bless each and every one of you.
