5 kinds of bones in the church ( Ezekiel 37:1)
OLDBIKER
This scripture is about Ezekiel and the bones in the valley of dry bones is representative of Israel as a Nation during Ezekiel's time but, there are still some bones in the modern churches today. With a little tweaking I have done here, I am sure you can understand the main theme and heart of this message as I have presented it.
First, we have Wish bones. These are people who are always wishing. They wish things were better, they wish the preacher didn't preach so long, they wish the kids in church were better behaved and, they wish the people were more friendly. Secondly, we have the Jaw Bones. These people talk too much. They are never satisfied. They come to church and talk about their neighbors, the preacher, the Piano player, the song leader, the special music that is sung or the songs that the congregation are asked to sing.. talk, talk, talk,. Thirdly we have the Funny Bones. These people are like the "funny bone" you have in your elbow. They are always getting their feelings hurt, someone didn't speak to them, the preacher didn't shake their hand, someone cut the pies at the church potluck in too many pieces, etc. Fourthly, we have the Dry Bones. These people don't enjoy anything. It's either too hot or too cold in the sanctuary, the music is too loud or not loud enough. The songs are played too fast or too slow. They vote or are against any change in anything and, they aren't willing to try anything new. They are satisfied with a "sanctified few". Lastly, we have the Back Bone. These people are faithful. Whatever it takes to get the job done, they are there to help get it done. These people will be there for Bible School, visitation, regular church services, take an interest in the affairs of the church, will visit the sick and, will stand with their Pastor through every adversity, as long as he is following the Lord.
We are to win souls for Christ. A church is not a social club, it is a hospital for sinners. We are to help the poor, the hurting, the widows, the down and outers. We are not to amass great financial sums, promote the latest style of fashion displays every time the doors open.
We need more Back Bones in our churches today more than ever. Reaching lost people for Christ should be the primary goal of every church. If it isn't, there is something wrong somewhere.
May god Bless this message and help us all realize our priorities in Christ's Service.

Thank you. Your observations are pretty descriptive of every church I've attended. It is too easy to fall into the "negativity" trap. It drains a person of about everything. :o(
