5 Barriers to the Resurrection of Christ: John 2:
OLDBIKER
There are many barriers to us today as mortals as we live this life here on earth. We have financial, emotional, Spiritual social and educational barriers.
I wish to share with you this Easter Sunday, 5 barriers that Christ, had he been just a mortal man, would have had to overcome or remove to come out of the tomb.
I. The first Barrier: DEATH--Jesus was dead.
a. Matt. 27:50 "Jesus when he had cried with a loud voice, yielded up the Ghost".
b. Mark 15:37: "And Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the Ghost".
c. Luke 23:46 "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said "Father, into thy hands I commend my Spirit and having said this, He gave up the Ghost.
c. John 19:30 When therefore Jesus had received the vinegar, He said "It is Finished" and gave up the Ghost.
There was no mistake whether Jesus was dead or not. John 19: 31-37 note vs 33- "but when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was already dead, they break not His legs.
This is significant in 2 ways, one. it was prophecied that none of His bone would be broken(Psalms 34:20).
and it was not done because He was already dead. These soldiers who did the crucifixions knew all about death and they knew when someone was dead. This blows the theory of the theological-idiots!!!!!!!!!!
!!. Barrier Number Two: THE GRAVE CLOTHES:
There were linen grave clothes wrapped around Jesus Body as was the custom of that era.
a. Luke 23:53 "And he took it (the body of Jesus) down, and wrapped it in linen and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never a man before was laid".
b. Matt. 27:59--" And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth".
c. Mark 15:44-46--same story!!!!!
Question: If Jesus was just a mortal man, how could He have unwrapped himself from the linen cloth? Impossible.!!!!!! This blows the swoon theory of the liberal Theological-idiots too.
III> Barrier Number Three THE GREAT STONE:
a. Matt 27: vs 63-66 The Pharisees told Pilate. "Sir, we remember that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again". Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away and say to the people He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them "Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as you can so they went and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Point: If the stone was over the outside of the door and Jesus was just a mortal man, how could he have gotten a handhold enough to roll the stone and, due to the size of the stone, one man couldn't move it anyway.
IV> Barrier Number Four: THE SEAL:
a. The stone was sealed with a seal of Pilate the emperor. If anyone broke this seal, without proper authority, they would be arrested, jailed and possibly put to death. If the stone moved, the seal would be broken.
Barrier Number FIVE: THE ROMAN GUARDS;
a. The guards were placed at the entrance of the tomb. They were to make sure that no-one bothered the grave or the stone. If anyone did, they could have either been arrested, jailed or possibly killed on the spot.
Now let's look at how these barriers stood up against Jesus.
The STONE: I will paraphrase these for the sake of room and reading time Matt 28" vs 1-6
a. There was a great earthquake
b. There was an Angel came down from Heaven
c. The angel rolled the stone away
d. The angel sat down on the stone.
THE SEAL:
The seal was broken immediately when the Angel rolled away the stone. He was not afraid of Pilate or His guards.
THE SOLDIERS:
a. Matt. 24: vs-8 says "that the guards were so afraid of the Angel, they shook in their boots and they fell on the ground as dead men. They fainted.
THE GRAVE CLOTHES:
a. John Chot. 20:47 Says that Peter and John ran to the tomb but, John outran Peter. John stopped at the door and saw the grave clothes but, he did not enter the tomb. When Peter arrived, he entered the tomb and saw the grave clothes and the Napkin folded by a separate place by itself. Why was the napkin folded?
Jesus custom at the dinner table to tell the servants that 'I coming back", so they would not remove the Master's food. This was Jesus way of telling anyone who entered the tomb, "I am coming back".
DEATH:
a, Matt 28 vs 6 the Angel said "He is not here, for He has risen from the dead".
Jesus appeared many times after His resurrection and He told His disciples that He was not a Spirit. He told them to touch him and feel him, look at his hands and his feet. He told Thomas to place his finger in his side where he was speared by the centurion. He ate food to show them He was not a spirit. Jesus Himself told them in Luke 24: vs 39 "Behold my hands and my feet, that is is I myself. handle me and see; for a spirit hath neither flesh and bones as ye see me have." He then asked if they had any meat and they give Him a piece of fish and of a honeycomb and he ate in front of them....... Question? Does this not classify fish as meat?
Jesus fulfilled every prophecy concerning Him so here are some facts that an old preacher would like to make known.
1. The Pharisees couldn't stand Him but, they found out, they couldn't stop Him
2. Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him.
3. Herod couldn't kill Him.
4. Death couldn't handle Him.
5. The grave couldn't hold Him.
6. You can't get Him out of your mind.
7. You can't get Him off of your hands
8. You can't out live Him.
9 You can't live without Him
10. He always has been
11, He always will be
12. He had no predecessor
13 He will have no successor
14 There has been no-one before Him
15 There will be no-one after Him
16. You can't impeach Him
29 And He ain't going to resign.
Somebody ought to say Amen!!!!!!!
May the Lord of the Resurrection, fill your Hearts your lips and your soul with joy this Easter.
Praise the Lord.----HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John 2:18-22 (New International Version, ©2011)
18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
