Hi DS,

My name is Jorge from Australia and I just found this place and I want to rant.

I believe my mum has bipolar and its been like this since I was a kid.

I'm 29 this year and I've hit the boiling point a number of times.

I've been trying to get her diagnosed for over a decade with no luck..

She:

- Has crazy mood swings

- Always in full denial that she needs help and manipulates us and says that we're the ones who need help.

- Keeps pushing myself and my sister even when we tell her to stop and its stressing us out.

- She will keep talking and talking and won't listen.

- She pivots to new topics and always uses old negative memories of us.

- She won't stop until we leave the house.

- She is a a master manipulator, and lies about things.

- She keeps saying other people are talking down on her but in reality, no one has.

- She constantly believes someone or something is recording her and listening to her all the time, like in the car she'll say shh.. or that she thinks I'm recording her on my phone. When I confront her about this, she says 'don't you worry, I don't need to tell you.' and laughs it off.

Today my sister feels ill and wanted to get tested and she kept saying asking irrelevant questions and stressing us out to the max.

My sister screamed and said stop but she kept stopping.

I chimed in and I snapped and said lots of things I don't mean.

Eventually she'll say that she's better off dead and she pulled a knife out and pointed it at me.

I'm at boiling point and was going to call the police.

Now she thinks I'm a horrible son for trying to call the cops on her.

She cried nonstop, went to the bathroom and started screaming, yelling these insane negative comments and laughing like she's lost the plot. 

I really think she has lost the plot...

My sister and I are lost, unsure what to do.

Have you guys experienced this? Is this bipolar? 

How do you guys deal with such crazy mania...

How do you diagnose someone who is in denial that she needs help?

I know this runs in her family. Her sisters and brothers are kind of like this too but not at this level.

She came here from Vietnam during the war and I think either it's severe PTSD along with bipolar or some sort of mental disorder...

Sorry for the rant, I feel absolutely lost for words for the 1000th time... I don't know what to do.
