Children Of Bipolar Parents Community Group
This is a place where those of us who have Parents struggling with Bipolar.I have started this group because my Dad is very sick and I myself have so many questions and need support. So I figured I can't be the only one who is going through this tramatic time.Everyday I wake up hoping to hear the life and soul put back into my Father. It's been three months...
Your feelings are valid and I just want to let you know that you are heard <3
I cut myself for the first time in my life a few hours ago following an argument with my mum. It was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of the dispute, but it finally became too much for me to deal with in a healthy way. She loves to tell me I don’t care about her, that I’m selfish, horrible etc.
I didn’t clean up the house as well as I usually do on Saturday because I was distracted -I found out that a friend of mine had attempted suicide and was in a coma in hospital. Naturally, I was incredibly distracted and tidying up didn’t seem that important to me. I told her what had happened and she displayed a flash of sympathy before resuming talking about herself.
I genuinely try my best with her. I tidy up all the time, I cook for her whenever she wants, I stay off of uni to look after the house so that she can go to work with peace of mind. But if I forget a simple thing she gets so upset.
I have no idea if I really AM a good person any more. I just want her to see that I’m not this horrible malignant person she seems to think I am.
Does anyone else’s bipolar relative have an obsession with cleanliness? Or a tendency to accuse you of hating them? I feel awful about myself and i got so emotional that cutting myself seemed like the only solution to make her see how upset I am
I relate to how you feel because in the beginning of my healing journey, I felt the same. Now I work really hard to only apologize when it is warranted. I refuse to apologize for breathing any more.
Start with small steps and be as gentle to yourself as you would be with a friend who is being abused. Because you are being abused.
But you are not alone.
