Hey Yall,
Many of Yall know that I lived w my aunt that has bipolar for 14 yrs and it has effected me greatly not only in my personality but as well as in my faith even more I had many notes that periods of times where I just wanted to kill my self in order to get away from this bipolar effect but I would never carry out what I said cause I knew if I did I would go to hell. So I got married now but I am recovering from all of those yrs where she abused me spiritually . She called me every bad word in the bible! And as time grew on I was continually fighting to keep my faith strength and not weaken but over the yrs of continually battling this and still ar but in a not head on way I've gotten soo weak and during that time of living w my bipolar aunt I actually started to believe those things she said to my face as well as what she did to me in the church I was in like go running and telling other ppl in the church my soo called problems which weren't anything but to her they were like extremely bad when it really wasn't anything at all! So here I am she made me believe and feel like I have failed and can't do anything right in christianity all together and now I feel like I don't fit in anymore. So my question is can u be a Christian Buddhist? I just feel like I NEED a fresh start in a new kinds alternative Christian religion .

I grew up in the church with a bi polar mother. At times of mania she would hallucinate and say that there were demons speaking into my ears and she'd throw things at my head to make them go away. it was beyond overwhelming as a teenager. I had to say my faith was the only thing that alleviated my spiritual, emotional, and physical abuse. I needed unconditional love and acceptance. My Bible and prayer life were all that there was as solace. As wonderful as my friends were there was no way anyone could possibly understand that kind of pain. I'm sorry you had to experience that pain and I wish my childhood was different too. I can't answer to your spiritual journey or abuse I just know that I needed to find my own faith to find peace and I wish it for you too.

I grew up in a Christian home with a bipolar mom. My mom is an awesome woman, who has a mental illness. I praise God for her every day, but I don't have the tools to heal her or fix all the past hurts inflected upon me as a child and young adult. I am sorry for the abuse you suffered, and cannot speak to your spiritual journey. I do know that God loves all of us unconditionally! Praise the name of Jesus. It has been through much prayer, and bible study that I too have come to an understanding that God is with me always and will never forsake me. I hope that you will find solace and hope that can only come from our Heavenly Father.

My dad has been a minister all of my life, so when he was diagnosed bipolar it was a hard pill to swallow. He could get mad and trip out, but in his trip out quote scripture trying to be against something I was saying or doing. It was an issue for me because I grew up seeing my dad in ministry, but at this point did not respect him in it anymore. I had to remind myself everyone wasn't like this, and God definitely wasn't like this. I had make myself realize my christian walk had nothing to do with my dad's. I am now still in love with Jesus and I am a worship leader. So with that said, don't change what you believe in because of somebody else. After all you don't believe in it for them anyway.
