Our 3 year old son was treated for scarlet fever when there were red rashes on his body. The treatment continued for a few weeks without any change in his condition. My friends had a concern regarding this and compelled me to get a second opinion. 

We brought my son to another hospital where he was diagnosed with KD. We were really lucky to get him finally diagnosed with the right disease. He is getting the right treatment and his condition is improving and we are really happy about it. But we are really furious about the fact that he wasn't properly diagnosed at the first hospital and treated for the wrong disease. 

We contacted a medical malpractice lawyer for seeking advice on trying for a malpractice claim. But one of my friends advised me to let it go and the hassles of such legal procedures are not worth it. I am in a confused state now and would like some additional words of advice.
