Child Abuse Survivors Community Group
This group's primary focus is physical and/or emotional child abuse: our memories, how it's affected us as adults, how we've survived, etc.
I have this repeated nightmare in my head even tho

When I was a child, I heard my mother yell,"Don there's a stranger in the house." My father ran down the hallway with his shotgun in hand, pulled him off my sister, and I crawled out of my crib and watched my father beat this man beyond reconition. My daddy is the best father in the entire world. It's my smother who is the control freak, by not letting me near their lives. They went to court, the man was found guilty and my daddy was home free.

Mom thinks I couldn't possibly remember, so I told her word for word what happened while she hid my sister alone in another room, given coloring books to to color while dad dialed out.How would someone survive that and not remember without severe trama? My sister has no clue. Yet I'm the one everyone blames, for taxes being raised. That's how I see Christmass for me this yr.

I'd stop worrying whether they believe you or not. Each time you think about that incident, try to think of something positive that you enjoy...do you like the beach, music, dance, whatever it is, think about that instead. Don't allow that man nor your parents for not believing you, have control over you. You know what you saw. I remember as far back as when I was two plus years old. My grandmother, aunts and mom know that because I described in full detail what the old house looked like. It was things they'd forgotten. That was a traumatic time in your life, but try to remember your daddy saved you all.

I tell that to those I've worked with when they encounter a rude customer...forget about what they just said and move onto "next". People like that are miserable within themselves. They choose to be unhappy and try to make others unhappy too. I've had a blast when I've encountered rudeness as once a man was standing there glaring at me because we needed change in our higher end store and he wanted to use a credit card. I looked at the associate standing next to me as we finished taking care of him and said, "Yes, I'm SOO happy today" and just kept smiling. I know it killed him because he thought he was intimidating me, but I'm too smart for that crap. He was about 6'3", but to me, he was 2" tall...jerk. When they see they're not getting to you, they stop and move onto someone else. Don't even respond or react. Glad you have your music going!
