Love is out there. If this relationship doesn't make it, be open to the possibilities. Also remember that your platonic relationships (family, good friends) are love too and lean on them when you are vulnerable. It's surprising how much love and compassion people can have when you ask for it. You don't have to do this alone.
Be yourself. Trust that the right person is out there.
Guys are not all after sex just as all women are not dating for security/money. You may have however been dating one that is accurately depicted in that generalization.
True love is a made up Hollywood term. It really isn't about meeting your perfect match because we are imperfect people who can change.
A successful committed relationship occurs when two people of enough maturity/character are able to put each other first and truly love each other.
Work on your own ability to love and character and find someone with a good character.
A strong personality is like a strong physical strength. It isn't a bad thing but needs to be applied and used properly.
A physically strong man doesn't need to get into altercations just for the sake of being strong, but can use it when necessary. That goes the same for strong personalities.
Bragging and being condescending is the same as flexing and intimating others with physical force, It's just a poor application of your strength.
Learn how to control your strength in the way it will benefit yourself and others without causing strife.
