Thanks for posting, Stuck! I love Helen Fisher-- she explains the biology behind many aspects of love and cheating. She has another TED talk in addition to this one. You can look her up on the TED website.

Lust, romance, attachment. In that order. Three emotions controlled by three different parts of the brain. That's why we can feel lust for one person, romantic with another, and attachment to a third. As the presenter said, we aren't built for happiness, but rather to reproduce.

My therapist said once that happiness is when what you think, say and do are one and the same thing. I believe him.
For now, after three years and initiating NC, I can tell you that my addiction is telling me that my OW ticked all those boxes. Lust, romance, attachment, and one-ness between the things I thiugr, said and did with her. Unfortunately it brought me severe unhappiness in every other part of my life.

Here's to all of you struggling out there. Know that you're not alone. Know that we will get through it.
