People who say 'if you loved your partner you'd couldn't ever cheat on them' just haven't had it happen to them.. haven't got a clue.
I felt the same way. I thought, I couldn't, ever ever ever ever cheat on my husband. Yet.. I did. It's a mad insane blood-burning hurricane that sweeps you up and empties your brain of all content but 'him him him him, I want him, I want him, I want him so bad I don't care how what right or wrong, I just want him so bad'........
Some days I want him, IT, back so bad that I'm prepared to do just about anything. Other days, I rationally think: you're an idiot and made a huge mistake; count your sodding blessings that your husband hasn't and never will find out...
Marital/self sacrificial love no.
Superficial love like loving Fresca and Mountain Dew, yes.
Yes, it is completely possible to love someone and find yourself in a compromising situation. Even to fall in love with another person while in love with your partner. From experience, it's a torturous hell to be in this situation and l don't recommend it. Hope you find your way out before too much damage is done.
Physical/emotional attraction to multiple people at the same time is definitely possible.
A type of attachment to someone to varying degree certainly is possible.
I don't think anyone can question that.
If you are talking about marital love then it falls into the realm of exclusivity in affection and self sacrifice. That is the decision you make when you take the vows and get married.
While that is a high standard, cheating on a spouse betrays the idea of that definition of love completely.
