My 1 1/2 year affair was discovered a month ago by my affair partners wife. The affair has now ended due to the fallout of discovery. Me and my ex affair partner are in the same social circle and our kids attend the same school. I have been completely isolated from my friend circle and many parents at my kids school now.or feels like everyone knows and no one will talk to me. If anyone has been in a similar situation how long will it be like this? Will anyone ever forgive me? I'm currently laying low but feeling alone and isolated is very hard.

I have not been in that situation but time will help things settle down. It will never be the same, but it will be better.

Agree with abetterman. Although my story is very different, it’s entirely true that nothing will be the exact same as it was prior for you or your affair partner. That is the nature of the act of cheating. However, a heartfelt apology and time will help the situation.

I can’t guarantee that everyone in your circle will come back but anyone who does is a true friend.

I hope that you find a measure of peace.

I just wanted to say I understand. I'm in a similar situation. Small town... I found out this morning that he told everyone at his work and his whole family a couple months ago. This would explain the glares. Just a matter of time before his work buddies, tell their wives (oh yeah, men talk), and it gets into the school system... to our kids 6/8 and my work. But I guess it is what it is... people don't forgive, nothing draws a crowd like gore. But good friends will stay... unfortunately we're going to find out exactly how many of those we have.
