OMG, now, my cat was totally feral when we met, He was 1.5 when I finally got him trapped and nuetered, so he ate wild life..and his fangs were falling out. When I started feeding him, he ate any dry food. When he was about 4 I started coaxing him into the house to eat cuz I realized, other cats were eating his dinner and he would hide when they came. Now, at 10.5 he is very fussy (I ruined a really good cat) He drools when he eats, so he likes fresh dry food for breakfast and Dinner. Purina Indoor cat chow is his favorite right now.
I started giving him wet food cuz I read it was good for cats. He likes the gravy best, after the gravy is gone, I add water and tell him it is gravy. His favorite today is Friskies special diet Salmon. I love my Kitty!!!!
That is so nice of you to take in a feral kitty. I actually feed 8 feral kitties and then I have one of my own that is an inside cat. I trapped all the feral cats and had them spayed/ neutered and then I released them. I feed them and take them to the vet when I can. I am only able to pet 3 of them but all of them will come on the porch and eat while I'm sitting outside.
The feral cats never used to be picky eaters but since they have been stressed out by a neighbor who treats them badly, I am having trouble getting them to eat the food I put out. I know I don't feed the best food but I'm feeding 9 cats on a tight budget. I feed Purina cat chow as that is the only thing my own cat will eat and then I mix Friskies wet food in with the dry in the mornings. They are getting to the point where they only want the wet food and I just can't afford that. As of now I go through 4 cans a day just on the feral cats because they won't eat the dry unless wet food is in it. My own cat Peaches can't eat Friskies wet food but she is able to eat the Fancy Feast. I was just wondering if anyone else had a picky cat.
BLESS YOUR HEART!!!!!!! I wonder if you add water to the dry food if they will try it. Sebastian likes water in his dry food sometimes. I know alot of people who feed their kitties Purina, so I would think it must be tasty to kitties. I wonder if they are eating something elsewhere. Sebastian didn't get fussy til I started buying different foods on sale. But when he doesn't like something..he just doesn't eat, or when he doesn't feel well he sleeps more than usual and does't eat. Prayers and Faith
What cat isn't finicky? I currently have 3 kinds of dry and 2 kinds of wet. LOL
I'm kind of tired of it all. For a while it was only Whiskas and only one flavor. I was having a hard time finding it in the stores. I tried a couple of other brands and now she won't eat Whiskas at all. I just keep reminding myself that if they are hungry they will eat.
I am always sorry when I start a cat on wet food. Dry is good enough and it is a lot less expensive. It's always a struggle between trying to treat the cat or just feed the cat.
